From the Co-Presidents

Cropped Logo

Dear CPWC Members,

Our Newcomers Welcome Party on August 18th was a huge success. Thank you again to Bryan Amaral for welcoming us into his lovely home. Lesli Asiello, Dawn Barrs, and their team put on an amazing event. It was wonderful to see all of the new faces and we hope to welcome many of them into our organization of friends and neighbors.

We hope you will renew your annual membership and enjoy our wide variety of daytime and evening events from now until next May. We count on your support to continue to offer these opportunities. Check this newsletter, our website or Facebook to keep up with all the dates and locations of the activities.

Angela Boardman, our Charity Chair, presented five different charities to the Executive Board at our August meeting and we voted to support Down7Up8. You can read more about this organization in the Charity Corner of this newsletter.

We look forward to officially starting our CPWC activities at the opening luncheon on September 13. Have a lovely Labor Day weekend.

Your CPWC Co-Presidents,

Martha Altieri & Sterling Lanken

CPWC Opening Luncheon

Friday, September 13 at Atlanta Country Club

10:30 AM to 1:00 PM

We are so excited about our opening luncheon. We can’t wait to see you!

Come hear our guest speaker, Karen Riddell, talk about the importance of developing and keeping friendships. Karen will bring copies of her book, Friendship Matters, to sell for $15 and she will autograph them for you.

Here are some other exciting things happening at the luncheon:

* You’ll have an opportunity to meet the board and hear about all the activities going on for the year in the women’s club.

* You’ll get to drink a mimosa and enjoy a wonderful luncheon.

* You’ll experience a wonderful “mini” STYLIN’ WITH FRIENDS fashion show with interest group members modeling outfits from Rita Ellen’s Boutique, highlighting the importance of the interest groups in the development of friendships in our club.

* You’ll have an opportunity to buy gift prize tickets at $5 each to win a door prize drawing for some awesome gifts, including a $25 gift certificate to Rita Ellen’s Boutique, a signed book by the author, a special guest towel depicting our theme, and all of the centerpieces on the tables. Please bring checks or cash to purchase lots of tickets as the proceeds will go to help our charity, Down7Up8.

* Lastly, this is a great time to renew your friendships and develop new friends by meeting new people who have moved into the area. Take this opportunity to invite a friend who doesn’t even live in our area just to enjoy the day. We look forward to seeing all of you and having a great turnout.

The deadline for RSVP’s and payment is September 6. Click here to register. The luncheon is $40 per person.

Your Daytime program team,

Amy McConnell, Janie Kissling, Maryam Askaran, Grace Becerra, Turin Mamoun, Joe Coke, Dawn Wadsworth, Rita Furness, and Debbie Wagner.

P.S. Save the date for Friday, October 18, for a program devoted to travel with speaker and CPWC member, Lisa Krueger with Expedia Travel.

First Friday

Join us on September 6 at Carie and Peter Buchanan's home, 530 Brook Hollow Circle, at 7 pm. Please bring an appetizer to share and your favorite beverage. This event is for couples or singles. RSVP is nice but not required.

Charity Corner

On August 14, the executive board selected Down7Up8, Inc. as the charity we will support this upcoming year. The mission of Down7Up8, Inc. is to develop, curate, and execute a range of programs and activities designed to enhance the lives of fostered, adopted, and underprivileged children through community involvement. Please go to their website at www.down7up8inc.org and check them out.

We will be planning a series of volunteer opportunities and events around their existing programs, very similar to how we supported PORCH Marietta last year.

Additionally, SAVE THE DATE: February 7. More to come on this exciting charity event and get ready to "Share the Love".

Thanks,

Angela Boardman
