Happy December CPWC Members!
As we head into the holiday season, we would like to express our thanks and gratitude to each of you who have supported the fall events. And a big thank you to our Executive Board and all the interest group leaders who have given so much of their time to make these events enjoyable and meaningful.
We would like to recognize and thank Dianne Kaseta for coordinating the CPWC Day of Charity at New York Butcher Shoppe East Cobb on November 2. For the entire day, 10% of purchases we made went to this year’s charity, PORCH Marietta and they received $250 from New York Butcher Shoppe! Thank you to the members who came out to support PORCH Marietta!
We had two exceptional programs in November. On November 14 the Evening group gathered at Pat Iaffaldano’s beautiful home and shared our favorite appetizers. Patty Pace graciously photographed all the recipes and shared them with all our members via email. Thank you to everyone who contributed a recipe and a special thanks to Patty for coordinating this and to Pat for hosting this fun event!
On November 17 at our Daytime program, the very entertaining and educational Chef Luca Barolli presented a fabulous cooking demonstration on how to make pasta and a custard dessert. He didn't charge us for the ingredients for the luncheon but instead, he asked us to make a donation to PORCH Marietta. Luca does private cooking classes, caters small dinner parties, and if interested, Luca can plan a custom vacation for you in Italy. If anyone needs to contact him, you can ask Susan or Pat for his contact information. Debbie Judd had the perfect home and kitchen to accommodate all thirty-five of us and we are especially grateful for her hospitality. Thank you, Debbie!
Wishing you a merry and bright holiday season!
Your CPWC Co-Presidents,
Susan Fulkerson and Martha Altieri

We have secured the venue for the gala/party on March 23, 2024. A huge thank you goes to Dianne Kaseta for negotiating a discount and to Anita Best for the idea to hold the event at The Computer Museum of America in Roswell. It is a wonderful space. Save the Date! I will be sending out a request next month for volunteers to help with the party planning.
Fundraising for PORCH has been great. The NY Butcher Shoppe event produced a day of sales from CPWC members of $2,500. As a result, the owners gave a $250 check directly to PORCH. It was a very successful event for the owners and the charity! It was a super fun event and Dianne may want to do another one with a different business in the future.
I understand that the raffles have been going well at each of the program events, the hiking group has been collecting food donations and taking them directly to PORCH, some members have been contacting PORCH directly and volunteering for events, and I heard a rumor that the gal who sold her scarves at the daytime program recently also donated a portion of the proceeds to PORCH.
Additionally, we have been collecting cookies, candy canes, coffee pouches, and hot cocoa packets at many of our CPWC events in November. On December 11, we will be stuffing the "Warm Winter Wishes from PORCH" treat bags. We have 250 bags to stuff! These are the bags that PORCH will give out on December 13 at the Sawyer Road Elementary food pantry.
We need volunteers for the following days/times for this event:
December 11 - 10:30-12:30 at the Sentinel Lake Clubhouse, 3292 Timberloch Drive. Any amount of time you can give to assemble bags during this window of time is great.
December 13 - 1:00-1:30 (delivering the assembled bags to the Sawyer Road Elementary Food Pantry)
Please text me at 404-217-7562 to let me know which days you can help us with this event.
What an amazing group of women we have!!!

Big thanks to Lisa Hanson and Kimberly Fullerton for sprucing up the ACC entrance holiday wreaths! The new bows make such a difference.
Safety alert: There was a break-in burglary on the back side entrance of ACC on or about November 11. Please be alert and careful, especially during this holiday season!
Zoning awareness: There is a notice posted for a variance for a home/property on Woodlawn that backs up to the Blackland Ridge neighborhood. Some neighbors believe that there is not a permanent resident at the home but there is a history of large and loud events being thrown. Our CPCA is actively following this variance request to understand the intent and future plans. Feel free to contact CPCA board member Joe Gavalis (joseph.gavalis@comcast.net) to give or receive more information and updates.
If you have not joined CPCA, please consider doing so. Your membership dollars help support these efforts to benefit the neighborhood. Visit their website at cpcaeastcobb.org.

We had a wonderful presentation at Boxwoods in Buckhead with Dawn Scheader. Dawn is their fresh flower designer and was a wealth of knowledge on foraging plants in our yards from greens, berries, flowers, and fruits. She created a tablescape that Maryam won as the door prize. It was Maryam's birthday so how perfect was that! I also created a circular tablescape that Jane Harm won. If you get a chance, visit Boxwoods...the store is filled with holiday goodies and always has the best fresh flower arrangements. Tell them you heard about them through the CPWC!
Our next program will be a field trip to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in Gainesville in late February or March,
Merry Christmas everyone!
