Monthly News & Updates

December 2022 | Issue 5

From the Co-Presidents

Happy Holidays!

December can be a special magical month. I love seeing how houses are decorated in our neighborhoods. Seeing things through young children’s eyes. Holiday baking, hot chocolate, decorating, Elf on the Shelf, finding the perfect gift for a loved one, favorite stories, family traditions, community…I love this season! Wait, did I just stress anyone out? Besides myself? Because this busy month full of parties, activities, family obligations and expectations can get a little overwhelming. BUT, it can also be so fun! We have so many activities to look forward to this month: First Friday, the Yule Log event, and the Gift exchange just to name a few. I hope you can find time to attend them. Getting together for a bit of holiday cheer is what makes this community special.

No matter what you celebrate or what your plans are, Susan and I hope you have a joyful and stress-managed month.

Your Co-Presidents,

Leslie and Susan

Gardening Interest Group

Garden Group

Our trip to Peach State Orchids was cancelled due to low response, probably due to the proximity to holiday travel. Members who still have an interest are welcome to join the Sope Creek Garden Club when they visit the orchid wholesaler on January 4 at 1030 AM. Parking at Peach State is limited so carpooling will be necessary. Contact Karin Guzy , 678-860-4445, karinguzy@gmail.com and she will coordinate any CPWC members who want to join the group.

It is a little counter intuitive, but many orchids start to bloom in December and January, with the phalaeanopsis (butterfly) orchids frequently holding their blooms for months. This means that the greenhouses will be full of blooms in January. Orchids will be available for sale. The owner will provide a tour and cover the basics regarding their care.
