The Wait is over – the building that will house the Communications and Marketing Department and Convention and Visitors Bureau and Office of Space Commerce for the city of Brownsville officially opened.

A large crowd attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony and toured the 14,875-square-foot building located at 1312 E Adams Street.

The City of Brownsville continues to meet with realtors, developers, and the public as discussions on the Capital Recovery Fee carry on.


For the past several months, the city has held work sessions with the groups to talk about the Capital Recovery Fee and receive their feedback.

SpaceX announced that the next Starship launch could happen within the next couple of months.

However, before the launch can happen, SpaceX needs to receive approval from the Federal Aviation Administration in the form of a vehicle operator license.

BTX Fiber Installation Across the City

BTX Fiber is well underway with the installation of underground fiber-optic cable across the city. The service will carry high-speed broadband internet service to customers.



Internet service will be made available to 32-anchor institutions such as the Brownsville Police Department, city fire stations, U.S. Post Offices, city and public utility offices, including public parks.

Residents, businesses, and all organizations will have the chance to buy service from BTX Fiber and the city.
