Thrive Center for Success February & March 2022 Newsletter

Executive Director Message

children-reading.jpg

Hi everyone!

Welcome to our second Thrive Center For Success Newsletter!

I have a few updates to share.

First, our enrollment period for the 2022-2023 school year ended on February 1st, with our lottery being held on February 4th. All grades were oversubscribed so a computer-generated, randomized lottery was held to fill the seats, with the remainder of applicants being moved to a grade level waitlist. If you are applying after the enrollment period, your child will be placed on a first come, first-serve basis after those who are already on the waitlist.

I would like to give a shout out to Jennifer Crawford, who has done an amazing job helping us with the enrollment process and answering questions for our parents. She has been such an enormous help!

We welcomed our new Principal, Scott Nipper, to our team this month. We are so excited to have him join us and we are looking forward to holding a Parent Information Night in March so everyone can meet him.

Thank you for your patience as we work hard to finalize our home for our school. We want to ensure we find a space that will meet all of our needs while having the capacity to hold our number of students and accommodate our smaller class sizes.

If you are interested in working at Thrive, please watch for job postings in February/March on our website at www.thrivesuccess.org and our Facebook page at @ThriveCenterFor Success.

We will be looking to hire BCBAs, Special Education teachers, School Nurse, an LSSP, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Campus Secretary/Registrar and Diagnostician over the next couple of months.

We are so excited to get to know our students soon and meet everyone at our upcoming Parent Information Night!

Kind regards,

Elizabeth Goldsmith

From Vision to Plans

I am excited to join the Thrive team. Our team is still small but we are beginning to build a school culture around our shared vision and mission. This vision and mission is to be carried forward into our task of planning to meet your child’s needs in the classroom. Soon we will be adding you and your child to our shared vision and mission. I want to take this opportunity in my first Principal Perspective column to highlight some key words below.

Our Vision

For every student to develop their fullest potential and have increased independence and satisfaction in all aspects of life.

Our Mission

To cultivate a high-quality, innovative environment for individuals with autism that provides access to services needed to empower each individual to thrive.

Our Plans in Progress

Currently we are working with several experts in the field of applied behavior analysis in school settings to further develop our model and methodology so each child can reach their fullest potential. There will be different classroom structures and ratios to increase each child’s independence in self-management, social interaction, and academic learning. And of course, the focus is on harnessing the child’s strengths, affinities, and reinforcers so that the learning process brings satisfaction in both the short and long term. We are researching and developing the best evidenced based curriculums to fit this model to address all aspects of life.

Our scope is broad and our sequence is ambitious, but getting there will take a systematic, high quality, innovative environment. We are getting close to finalizing our calendar which will be a slightly extended version of local school districts to provide the professional development needed to train the faculty to provide the services needed to empower your child to thrive. Soon we will begin expanding our team to include the specialist, therapist, and educators to bring these plans alive into action.

I look forward to meeting you at an upcoming Parent meeting to be scheduled in March with more details to come soon.
