April 2019
Recovery Hero
Thank you to all who participated in the very first Recovery
Advocacy Day in Carson City. Over 60 advocates from across
the state of Nevada showed up to participate in the first
recovery advocacy day recognized at the Nevada Legislature.
Attorney General Aaron Ford spoke about upcoming legislation
that supports recovery-oriented options in the criminal justice
system. Nevada legislators discussed several bills relevant to the
recovery community. Other speakers included Fay Zenoff from
the Center for Open Recovery and Ryan Hampton, the national
recovery advocate and author of “American Fix.” We toured the
legislative building, and observed a committee hearing.
This event fueled the passion of those in recovery, as well as
family members, and allies to unite and advocate for our
communities to make change and reduce stigma for
those in or seeking recovery in Nevada.
