Balance Your Hormones, Rejuvenate Your Brain
With cutting-edge science and ancient Ayurvedic wisdom BY NANCY LONSDORF, M.D.

As a woman over 40, and possibly decades older, you may have a brain that’s aging faster than that of a man your age. Shocking news? Yes, indeed!

In fact, this recent finding is the main reason this book is here now.

Neuroscientist Lisa Mosconi and colleagues found that women going through perimenopause and menopause show accelerated brain aging as compared to men of the same age.

They reported that after hormonal shifts set in, women’s brain metabolism slowed down—an early sign of neuronal stress. In addition, deposits of the memory-destroying protein “A-beta,” aka amyloid, increased. And, eventually, greater shrinkage was seen in key memory and cognition areas of the brain.

These findings clearly suggest hormonal factors as an important contributor to women’s 100 percent greater risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

The question is, “What’s a woman to do?” Does this mean every woman should take estrogen to prevent Alzheimer’s?

“Darkness will disappear
and we will see peace in the world” Maharishi, March 2006

During this time of deep political division, we are fortunate to be blessed with powerful technologies of consciousness that are capable of achieving the goals of ALL peace-loving men and women—without having to enter the fray of the endless debates.

Maharishi explains how we need only “…raise the quality of collective consciousness, and then the government will naturally do better and better.

“Ancient wisdom is always held by small numbers, throughout time, who hold the Vedic tradition.

Our National Yagyas, performed by deeply trained Vedic Pandits, are an effortless technology to raise collective consciousness.

What greater gift can we give our nation, and ourselves?
The next 11-day U.S. National Yagya starts on the evening of August 2.

The purpose (Sankalpa) of the Yagya will be:
Increasing peace, positivity, and spiritual awakening
for the United States and its people.
Raja Peter To Offer Three Weeks of New Total Knowledge Courses Starting July 21

Two Weeks Remaining!

Courses will be offered in Dalby Hall and will also be available online—both livestreamed and available to view afterwards at your convenience.
Free Talk Sunday at 8:00 pm
In Dalby Hall and Livestreamed!

The new one-week course, "Total Knowledge and the Great Thinkers and Leaders Throughout the Ages," begins Sunday evening at 8:00 with a free talk in Dalby Hall and online.

This promises to be a most inspiring and original course. Raja Peter and Professor Ken Chandler will present the picture of Maharishi’s complete and practical plan for the creation of an ideal quality of life, Heaven on Earth, for both the inner and the outer reality of everyone in the world. They will then show that the greatest leaders of the last 5000 years had very much the same vision of Heaven on Earth, but each proposed different means for realization of this reality, which were only partially successful. It is Maharishi’s knowledge and programs that are now bringing fulfillment to the quest of the greatest leaders of all time, and their precious visions of an ideal future.

Course schedule: Sunday evening, July 28 - Friday afternoon, August 2 in Dalby Hall and available online. Class times are 1:45 - 4:00 and 7:45 - 9:15. (Sunday starts at 8pm instead of 7:45.) And there's no class on Wednesday evening.

Course fee: $125/week or $75/week discounted rate. (Please see details at http://mum.edu/totalknowledge2019 .)
Sunday, August 4 – Friday, August 9

With Raja Peter and Dr. Charles Heath   The MUM Department of Continuing Education is delighted that these two much admired and popular speakers are coming together for this unique course. Raja Peter’s exposition of Total Knowledge, which covers the full range of Maharishi’s Vedic Science, provides a most satisfying and complete insight into the nature of Jyotish (Vedic astrology) and its role in our lives. As the leading representative of Maharishi Jyotish and Yagya programs in the USA, Dr. Charles Heath has a great wealth of experience of Jyotish, with so many fascinating insights, stories, anecdotes and examples.

Maharishi Jyotish has two main aspects — inner and outer — which will both be covered during this course. The inner value is Jyotish-mati pragya — described by Maharishi as “that fully awake field of intelligence that knows everything." The outer value is based on precise mathematical calculations about the specific influences that come to bear on an individual as his or her life progresses. Both give complete knowledge of past, present, and future, and they complement one another, opening the door to develop fully awake consciousness, reverberating blissfully in daily life. As Maharishi says: “Maharishi Jyotish and Maharishi Yagya are for the development of enlightenment — life free from dependence on surroundings and circumstances, and mastery over one’s own destiny.”

10 Reasons Every Business Needs TM
Top executives and published research explain why BY JAMES G. MEADE, PH.D.

Many businesses offer the Transcendental Meditation ® (TM ® ) technique to their employees. Oprah’s  staff learned , as did Katy Perry’s  entire touring crew .

The TM technique is also  a big hit on Wall Street . Ray Dalio, founder of the $160 billion investment company Bridgewater Associates, offers the TM course to his 735 employees, and about 500 now practice the technique.

Thousands of business professionals practice the TM technique to reduce stress, improve their health, and increase productivity and creativity.

Many others have followed suit—hundreds of Wall Street professionals have taken the TM course, reports the David Lynch Foundation SM  TM Center in New York City.

And in April,  Variety  magazine broke the news that “Marvel’s Top Executives Are Obsessed with This Daily Self-Care Practice.”

Despite these marquee examples, the TM technique isn’t widely known as an effective element of business strategy.

Here are ten reasons why it makes sense for every company to make the TM course available to everyone on the team.

Some Grandparent fu nnies
My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 72. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?”

A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story.
"What's it about?" he asked.
"I don't know," she replied. "I can't read.”

I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I really think you should try to figure out some of these colors yourself!”

A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties.
"They use him to keep crowds back," said one child.
"No," said another. "He's just for good luck."
A third child brought the argument to a close. “They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants.”

A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. "Oh," he said, "she lives at the airport, and whenever we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we're done having her visit, we take her back to the airport.”

How billionaire Ray Dalio used ‘mantra’ meditation to come back from financial ruin By Jade Scipioni Mon, Jul 1 2019
Using ‘mantra’ meditation
“I had learned Transcendental Meditation,” Dalio tells Business Insider. So Dalio used meditation to reflect on his mistakes and to clear his mind to make better decisions in the future.

“When the pain passes, don’t just go forward, reflect, because that’s where your progress is,” Dalio tells Business Insider.

In his book, “Principles,” Dalio writes that he learned Transcendental Meditation after the Beatles studied the practice in 1968 in  India.  He says the practice allows him to think more clearly and creatively when making decisions.

Transcendental Meditation doesn’t focus on breathing or chanting; instead it encourages a restful state of mind beyond thinking by closing the eyes and repeating a mantra in silence to reduce stress and anxiety. It is typically practiced for 20 minutes, two times a day, according to Bob Roth, author of “Strength in Stillness: The Power of Transcendental Meditation,” who Dalio cites as the best teacher and expert he knows on the subject.

According to a 2009  study  from the National Institutes of Health, Transcendental Meditation helped to alleviate stress in college students, while also reducing blood pressure, anxiety, depression and anger in students. It has also  been shown  to reduce everything from symptoms of trauma to anxiety, depression and sleep disturbance in prisoners.

Dalio says most people don’t realize that there are “two yous in you.”

There’s the “emotional you” that comes from the subconscious, which under some circumstances can produce stress and emotions that can completely take you over, and then there’s the “thoughtful part of you.”

“Both have advantages, because the subliminal is bringing forward these intuitions and those types of things and then the intellectual, and if you can be calm and resolve those things together, not only does it give you the calmness, it gives you better thinking,” he says.

He says his TM practice helped him balance his aggressiveness and shift his  mindset  from thinking that he’s always right to instead asking himself, “How do I know I’m right?”

“I saw clearly that the best way to answer this question is by finding other independent thinkers who are on the same mission as me and who see things differently from me,” Dalio writes in his book about the incident. He says by engaging others through thoughtful disagreements, he was able to better understand their reasoning and have them “stress-test” his ideas, which ultimately lead Bridgewater to make better decisions and rebuild its name.

Dalio has credited his meditation practice with being the single most important  reason for his success  today and the greatest gift that he could give anyone.
