Staff and Faculty Safety Committee assignments sought
Dear Staff and Faculty,
In this upcoming Spring season we want to continue to make progress in the area of occupational safety and we need your help.
We want to boost our progress by involving the members of staff and faculty in the decision-making about matters of occupational safety at MIU.
We need 2 members from staff and 2 members from faculty to participate in MIU Safety Committee of which role is to
- establish and oversee a system for employees to report hazards and suggest corrective actions,
- establish and oversee a system for regular workplace inspections and recommend corrective actions,
- evaluate all incident investigations and recommend how to prevent a recurrence.
This committee will include Tom Brooks, David Todt, Beata Nacsa and Rig Gelfand and 2 staff and 2 faculty selected from a pool of volunteers. For the volunteer members, the term of service will be for 1 year and then we will rotate in other staff and faculty members. Meetings will be held monthly for 1 hour. The minutes of the meeting will be published on the security webpage.
Please consider volunteering for this new Committee. Let me know at
tbrooks@miu.edu
Thanks,
Tom Brooks for the MIU Safety Committee

This inspiring new course will cover Maharishi’s journeys from 1954 to 1964, starting with the time spent with his teacher, Guru Dev. Dr. Boncheff will share some of the rarest talks, books, and papers by Maharishi from the new 20,000 item collections in Maharishi Global Archives which have been newly acquired from various estates.
During these years, Maharishi faced several major turning points in his life and activities. These key moments will be fully discussed using Maharishi’s own words. Every point of knowledge will either be presented by playing a recording of Maharishi, or reading from an official transcript of Maharishi, or from publications from the early days of the TM movement.
Course schedule: March 2 – April 1. Monday and Wednesday evenings 7:45 – 9:15 in Dalby Hall and available online. First lesson is free and starts at 8 pm.
Course fee: $108 (or $69 for full-time MIU/MSAE staff, faculty, and students; or full-time Governors, IAA grant recipients, and anyone who is retired and cannot otherwise afford the course). MIU alumni receive 10% off the full course fee. A portion of the course fee will go to support the Maharishi Global Archives at MIU.

In celebration of our upcoming 10th season of courses at the Brahmasthan of India, we are offering a one-time special lower course fee for early booking.
We have been deeply inspired, week in and week out, by our guests’ consistent depth of inner experiences — in program and while listening to the recitation of the Maharishi Vedic Pandits. And as we approach our 10th anniversary, we wanted to offer the blessings of the place Maharishi called “The holiest of all the holy places of India” to as many people as possible.
For this coming season — October 26th, 2020 through March 15th, 2021 — we are reducing the regular course rate by 20% for those who book and pay before this March 31st. Please

The Super Habit for Living a Happier, Healthier, More Enlightened Life
Achieve your goals holistically
BY ROBERT KEITH WALLACE, PH.D., & SAMANTHA WALLACE
|
|
At the beginning of each new year, people often make positive resolutions. Ten percent of all health club or gym members, for example, join in January. Yet a lot of the people who embark on fitness resolutions at that time struggle to stick with their new habit. By February, as many as 80 percent of resolutions fail.

Modern medicine recognizes that the key to health is replacing bad habits with healthy ones. Most doctors will tell you to exercise more, eat better food, and get enough rest. The problem is compliance—following through and putting this advice into action.
Total Brain Coaching is a new approach whose goal is to help you develop good habits. Our number one recommendation is to incorporate the powerful super habit of the Transcendental Meditation® (TM®) technique, along with the wisdom and expertise of thousands of years of healthcare practice in Maharishi AyurVeda®. Our approach is not about trying to eliminate old, negative habits; it is about replacing them with new, positive ones—such as the TM technique.

“Transcendental Meditation made me human again. I came back from the dead. I was resurrected.”
By Corey O’Brien March 19, 2019
|
|
And it wasn’t until 2017 when I finally found a viable option that worked – and that viable option was Transcendental Meditation. Since I started meditating, I’ve felt more rested; I can sleep better. I get more done at home, I get more done at work. I was actually talking to people. I was talking to my colleagues, up until that time I had been a ghost. This is only something that happened a year ago. And within that year, I’m now a veteran who wants to help other veterans, and now I have the energy, I have the thoughts, I have the good ideas, and I’m able to actually act on them. I became human. I became human again. I came back from the dead. I was resurrected.

What Is Transcendental Meditation, the Practice Beloved by Celebs—and What Makes It So Special?
|
|
If you’ve done any research into the
meditation
, you’ve likely heard of transcendental meditation. Just about every celebrity seems to be practicing it these days. Popularized by The Beatles (who originally learned in 1967), it’s now a favorite of Katy Perry, Hugh Jackman,
Sheryl Crow
and Liv Tyler. After discovering it herself,
Oprah
even paid for her 400 employees to become trained in the methodology!
But what exactly is TM and how does it differ from the other types of meditation out there? We caught up with transcendental meditation expert and CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, Bob Roth, who walked us through the ins and outs of this popular form of meditation.
What is transcendental meditation (TM)?
