We want to announce some big staff changes on our IGNITE Team. After four years we are saying goodbye to Elizabeth Dewar, who is been someone very special to all of us. We will miss her a great deal and wish her so well on all of her new adventures.

October was a big month of growth for California IGNITE!
Welcome Roosevelt Middle School, Buena Vista Horace Mann K-8, and Thurgood Marshall Academic High School, and Design Tech High School to the IGNITE family!
IGNITE and 500 Women Scientists formalized their partnership and we're looking forward to collaborating for a workshop in San Francisco public schools. IGNITE and The Hydrous formalized their partnership and will continue to offer Virtual Reality Workshops with IGNITE chapters. The San Francisco IGNITE Spring Gala is set for March 21, 2019 at the historical Scottish Rite Center. More details and ticketing info

. New IGNITE Volunteers from Pixar, Facebook, NASA, and Tesla are getting the IGNITE fever! We're looking forward to inspiring girls to take their place in technology evolution with their future partnership.

Last week, over 20 girls from Mission High School's IGNITE Chapter were inspired as they interacted with games, audio, virtual reality, robotics, and heard Latinx professionals' stories at PlayStation for a field trip to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

Two weeks ago, over 40 girls from Aptos Middle School's IGNITE Chapter visited Zynga for an inspiring day of games, designing a game to find a mentor, and hearing professionals' stories that work at Zynga. Read more

Two weeks ago, over 10 girls from Ida B. Wells Continuation School's IGNITE Chapter participated in a Coding Workshop facilitated by MakeSchool. The girls designed and programmed their own castle and wizard to run around casting magic spells in this interactive game! Read more

What a wonderful four years it has been working with IGNITE! I have truly enjoyed all of the friendships and partnerships that have been made along the way. Volunteers, educators, and students- thank you for your passion and time! We still have so far to go in positively impacting the culture of STEM careers and education, I will continue to work towards making changes and hope you all keep on sharing your experiences while inspiring students and each other. Spring Gala Kick-off Meeting Thursday, Nov 15th, 6pm
The planning for the May 4, 2019 IGNITE Spring Gala has begun. We are looking for talented and dedicated folks to serve on the Gala Planning Committee. The committee will meet once a month and we always have snacks and refreshments. This a wonderful way to meet other fabulous volunteers, while having fun and doing great work!
Our first planning session is on November 15th, at 6pm. Monthly meetings will begin in January.
We request you sign up for the first meeting. If you are interested, have questions or would like to nominate someone please reply to this email. Thank you for your dedication to IGNITE and the girls we serve.

IGNITE chapters are looking for women to share their personal story with a diverse group of girls and non-binary students. When the students hear how you navigated the challenges of persevering and succeeding in STEM careers they gain confidence and fully realize their future potential and possibilities.
