FIFTY MEMBER CHILDREN RECEIVE 2017 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

Every year, the Regional Council awards scholarships to children of members to help them pursue a post-secondary education. This year, NCSRCC awarded $25,000 to 50 students working towards a post-secondary degree.

Scholarships are a one-time $500 grant and applicants must have a parent or guardian who is a member in good standing of a UBC Local within the NCSRCC jurisdiction who is participating in funds. Applicants must be enrolled full-time (12 credits) in an accredited post-secondary program. Checks are released after documentation of successful completion of the academic semester.

Check out this FOX 6 news story about a unique summer program hosted by the Southwest Wisconsin Carpenter Center in Pewaukee, Wis. Each year, middle and high school students spend a week in the training center building boats from scratch. "It's great to get kids into the training center and working with their hands for a week in the summer. It really shows them what the trades are about and lets them learn some skills to build something they can be proud of," said Business Representative James Kroening.
