News & Notes from the Union
Volume 02  | March 28, 2017

Kids Build events are typically free, two-hour workshops held from 10 a.m. to noon one Saturday per month, September through May, for children ages 5-12. At these workshops, kids from our communities have the opportunity to make wood projects, as well as build their skills and confidence.

Kids at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., do not have many opportunities to leave their hospital rooms, much less go to an event in our training centers. We brought the workshop to them. There were two of these events held, one in February and another in March, to allow sick children and their siblings an opportunity for a few hours of fun and enjoyment. The workshops allowed the kids to be kids again and learn a little about carpentry in the process.

We are launching a member recruitment campaign in key areas across the council such as Madison, Des Moines, and Fargo. Skilled carpenters are needed in many areas and we will be pushing out efforts online, but did you know that YOU are our biggest help in recruiting new members?
