Presidential Welcome Speech:

Good afternoon friends, neighbors, and the business community of Prince Rupert & North Coast as a whole. I first want to take the time to acknowledge we are holding this gathering on the traditional territory of the Ts’msyen peoples, where we all have the absolute privilege to work, play, and explore.

I would also like to thank you for your vote of confidence, and for having the opportunity in serving you over the past year as Vice President.

For those of you that I haven’t had the privilege of meeting yet, my name is Matthew Kloepper, and I am honoured to now serve as your new Chamber President for the 2023/2024 year.

A lot is happening in our region, and like any other region experiencing hyper-economic activity. Being prepared Is absolutely imperative, especially for small businesses. Which is why we’re working diligently to bring our chamber into the now.

This starts with creating policies & branding initiatives that are centric to our values as a region, more especially as an organization operating on the traditional territory of the Ts’msyen Peoples. And as an organization we need to play our part In bringing genuine meaning & action to the words truth & reconciliation.

As a settler & guest, born & raised in this beautiful territory, I aim to humbly serve, lead, and most importantly, be led in this process as we walk together as a regional community.

To our business community at large, our board & executive team aims to bring value driven events & discussions to our membership, as well as continue to not only round the bend of the past few years we have endured & persevered through collectively.

But to also continue to pave a path of collective prosperity for our region as a whole. Which will take planning, and continued stark advocacy at the Provincial & National levels.

I have the absolute honour & privilege of working alongside some incredible people, including this year’s Vice President Kristi Farrell, and our new Executive Director, Roman Brochu.

It takes a community to build a community, so I want to thank each of you at home for the work you do in each of your own lives, and I want you to know that we look forward to serving you in the coming year.

But I’d like to welcome our honoured guests, and speakers for today’s luncheon, CFNR!

T’oyaxsut ‘nüüsm, Thank you all.

Host a Business After Business!

Attention all business owners!

Looking for a new and relaxed way to showcase your business or products? Consider hosting a Business after Business (BaB) event! BaB is a social event designed to spotlight your business in a more informal setting and provide an opportunity for longer discussions with service reps or other specialists.

As the host, you get to set the date and structure of your event with the Chamber's help, making it as simple or elaborate as you'd like. Most events are typically held on weekdays after usual business hours and include refreshments ranging from simple snacks to fancy catering. The event is usually hosted at your business, but if space is an issue, the Chamber can help coordinate a different venue.

By hosting a BaB event, you'll not only showcase your business but also gain valuable connections and exposure in your industry. This is a great way to expose your products or business in a more relaxed social atmosphere. The Chamber will also assist in promoting your event, making it a win-win for everyone involved. So, don't wait any longer - sign up now to host your own Business after Business event!
