Warming Hearts and Homes in the Face of Disaster
|
In May of 2020, the catastrophic failure of two dams in Michigan unleashed an unnaturally large flood on Sanford, Midland, and other communities in the vicinity. While thankful to God that there was no loss of life, the communities faced significant property damage to many homes and businesses. Adding to the problem was the fact that many homes were not on the flood plain, and consequently not insured. Read more.

Michigan District LLL Virtual Workshop
Dionne Lovstad-Jones, Regional Ministry Facilitator at Lutheran Hour Ministries, will be the presenter at the LLL Virtual Workshop that is taking place on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. This workshop is in place of the annual convention. The presentation will be "Households of Faith" in which Dionne will equip participants with the knowledge and tools to strengthen the spiritual vibrancy of our households, and ultimately the family of God. THE POWER OF MITES!
Several mission grant recipients will speak at the National LWML Convention this summer about what these “mites” have accomplished in their mission field. Sharing their stories will be Rev. John Carrier (Camp Restore Detroit), Deaconess Kimberly Trombley (Bethesda Lutheran Communities), Ruth Richert Martin (MOST Ministries), and others. The Michigan District Here We Stand (HWS) Campaign has raised over $1.38 million for Professional Church Worker Scholarships. The HWS campaign helped provide $124,250 in scholarships to 40 students attending our seminaries during the 2020/2021 school year. There are 40 weeks left in the campaign.
