Fall Festival Fun

A Fall Festival for the community was held November 8, 2025 at Bethany UMC Gloucester Point. The Hornsby brothers (James, Lucas and Matthew) enjoyed the activities including the fire truck from the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue. This event was sponsored by Bethany, Susanna Wesley and Bellamy United Methodist Churches.

During this Fall season, Colonial Beach UMC has been serving Joyfully, reaching

out to our local community and beyond through events and activities.

The UMM Trunk or Treat event included a light snack of grilled hot dogs and

chips (100 served), forty books were given away to children young and not so

young. This event saw over 150 adults and children. The UWF Holiday Bazaar

netted proceeds to support charities within the local community, our county, and

beyond. The UMM’s delicious pancake breakfast served sixty, with a Love

offering of $240 going to a community organization that meets the needs of local

families by providing Christmas gifts. Finally, the Pumpkin Tree (filled with

pumpkin ornaments), provided for the needs of women and children staying at The

Haven Women’s Shelter during periods of transition with over 100 items donated.

During the month of October and November, we continue to share our gifts

through the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child shoebox effort, with a

goal of 250 boxes (reached!). Our Food Pantry, like so many, has seen an increase

in families and individuals experiencing food insecurity. We are Loving boldly by

opening the pantry on Thanksgiving Day; so that the holiday meal of others will be

complete and satisfying.

Along with our monthly ‘Family Movie Night,’ ‘Quarter Gym Exercise’ group,

and ‘Art Walk Social,’ CB UMC hears the call to serve, responding as the hands

and feet of Jesus Christ, Loving Boldly, serving Joyfully, and leading

Courageously.

On November 22, Trinity Newport News, Tabernacle Poquoson, and Sanctuary Outreach joined together to feed over 100 underprivileged neighbors.
