GIVE THE GIFT OF CAMP - ONE SNACK AT A TIME!

Each summer at the YMCA, Gift of Camp helps ensure children and youth have access to a safe, welcoming place to belong, build confidence, make friends, and create summer memories, regardless of their financial circumstances.

But for many kids, a great day at camp also starts with something simple: having enough to eat.

This June, we’re collecting kid-friendly snacks to help nourish campers who may arrive hungry or need a little extra fuel during the day. Your donation will help make sure every child can fully participate, play, learn, and thrive.

Suggested items include non-perishable, nut-free and individually packaged snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, applesauce pouches, crackers, cereal bars, and other kid-friendly options.

When you give snacks, you’re doing more than filling a belly. You’re helping fuel potential and making summer brighter for kids in our community.

There are two ways you can help:

-drop off non-perishable snacks in the lobby at 570 York Street

-Click on the button below to make a financial contribution. Designate your donation as ‘Gift of Camp’

Donate today and help every camper feel cared for and ready for a summer full of belonging.

YMCA OF FREDERICTON REPRESENTATION AT THE YMCA CANADA'S KANANASKIS GATHERING

At the YMCA of Fredericton, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Epsilon Y Service Club for their generous support of YMCA professional development through the Atkinson Scholarship.

With support from this scholarship, Mat Stever, Director of Wellness, Aquatics, Membership and Youth Programs, and Brian Conoley, Manager of Community Initiatives, were able to attend YMCA Canada’s Kananaskis Gathering.

This national learning opportunity brought together YMCA staff and leaders from across Canada to deepen relationships with Indigenous communities and advance meaningful action toward Truth and Reconciliation.

“I am forever grateful to have had an opportunity to hear from several speakers who shared their thoughts and experiences about their Reconciliation work. I cherish the opportunity to have met many new colleagues from across the country who are working towards building stronger relationships with Indigenous communities. Camp Chief Hector is more than a venue it is an amazing environment that helped me reflect and be inspired. It offered a rare opportunity to step away from day-to-day demands to create some genuine space: to listen, to reflect, and to connect in ways that really matter.” –Mat

“The opportunity to take a meaningful step forward in my personal journey towards contributing to Reconciliation, while being supported and guided by such an incredible collection of people has left an indelible mark on my soul.

I am inspired by an organization that doesn't only want to do good, but do better. I am more hopeful. I am more hopeful today, and more committed to the belief that meaningful change is how we learn from, build relationships with, and support Indigenous Peoples and communities is not only possible, but necessary.” –Brian

We are grateful to Epsilon Y Service Club for helping make this learning possible. Their support strengthens our YMCA’s ability to continue learning, reflecting, and taking meaningful action as we further our shared journey in Truth and Reconciliation.

HEALTHY KIDS DAY - A SMASHING SUCCESS!

The YMCA of Fredericton hosted it's 4th annual Healthy Kids Day! This year's event was free for the community and presented Riverview Ford Lincoln and Riverview Honda.

We are so grateful for the immense support for this event from community partners, sponsors, vendors, volunteers and participants.

First, we would like to take a moment to thank our incredible team of volunteers. This event would not be possible without them. Their time, energy and kindness helped create a day filled with fun, connection and meaningful moments for children and families in our community. Thank you for keeping things organized and smooth, for spotting children on the bouncy castles and sports equipment, for signing people into the building, for flipping burgers and keeping things clean!

Second, we would like to thank all of our friends who made this event possible.

Worlds UNbound

Healthy Kids Day is about more than one event. It is about reminding children and families that everyone belongs at the YMCA. Because of everyone involved, that message was felt throughout the day.

It is also an important fundraiser for subsidized children and youth memberships, helping ensure more kids have the opportunity to belong, grow, and thrive at the YMCA. More than 500 children and youth count on the generosity of our community to support their memberships, and Healthy Kids Day raised funds to support 50 memberships for this year.

We are so grateful that you chose to share your time with the YMCA. Your support helped us bring our mission to life in a very real and joyful way.

TRAILS COALTION AND YMCA CREATE POWERFUL PARTNERSHIP

A new community solar project will offset carbon for Fredericton’s trails and YMCA childcare operations.

The Fredericton Trails Coalition (FTC) and the YMCA of Fredericton are proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership that combines sustainability, community collaboration, and innovation. Together, the organizations are launching a solar energy initiative that will power a greener future for Fredericton.

The project will see the installation of a 100-kilowatt (kWh) solar array on YMCA property. This renewable energy system will generate enough clean power to offset the carbon emissions from the lighting of 4 kilometres of Fredericton’s trails, while also fully offsetting the carbon footprint of the YMCA’s Child Care Centre.

This project is supported by a $64,000 investment from the Regional Development Corporation (RDC). The YMCA of Fredericton and the Fredericton Trails Coalition extend their sincere thanks to RDC for their leadership and commitment to advancing sustainable infrastructure in New Brunswick.
