Happy November, Y'all!
Cooler weather is here and that means the holidays! It's an exciting time of the year, and there are so many fantastic things happening; keep reading to find out more!

November is National Family Caregivers Month

According to the CDC, 1 in 5 adults are caregivers.
We would like to recognize all family caregivers around the state for their dedication to providing around the clock care. Caregivers are those who provide care to a friend or family member with a health problem or disability on a regular or daily basis.

Family caregivers juggle priorities, manage health emergencies and suffer from isolation.

It's National Epilepsy Awareness Month

Formally recognized by Congress since 2003, the Epilepsy Foundation has long since promoted its importance to bring awareness to the incurable disease.

Because the causes of epilepsy are often unknown, it can be very difficult to treat. Therefore, living with epilepsy can be challenging for patients. In general, the risk of a child with a developmental disability experiencing an unprovoked seizure by age 5 is about 4 times greater than in the general population.

Do your part to increase awareness and help bring hope to epilepsy patients.

GCDD Arkansas is a Proud Member of the Arkansas Lifespan Respite Collection
The purpose of the Arkansas Lifespan Respite Coalition (ALRC) is not to act in the role of a direct service provider, but to build a statewide system to identify and coordinate respite care options for families regardless of age, special need, or other characteristics of the person needing care.

The Division of Provider Services and Quality Assurance within the Arkansas Department of Human Services serves as the central point of contact for the Arkansas Lifespan Respite Project across the state.
