The Presbytery of Milwaukee is currently in search of a part-time treasurer to oversee the corporate and financial responsibilities of the Presbytery and interpret the finances to the Presbytery, the Council, and Presbytery staff. The position reports to the Presbytery through the Council and interacts closely with the Presbytery Executive, the Administrative Assistant, the Stated Clerk, and the Treasurer of the Presbytery of Milwaukee Foundation. The treasurer will receive a $2,500 yearly stipend.
This is anticipated to be primarily a remote position, with periodic in person meetings, totaling approximately 5 hours per week.
Resumes and questions regarding the position may be submitted to the Personnel Chair, Terry Lyons.

WHEN THE CHURCH CHANGES, OUR MANUALS SHOULD TOO:
Rethinking Session Structure, Ordering for Mission, and Pastoral Relations
| |
The Church is changing. That statement will surprise no one serving on a Session today. Congregations are navigating changing patterns of participation, fewer people willing or able to serve on standing committees, new expectations of pastoral leadership, financial pressures, aging buildings, changing neighborhoods, and ministry opportunities that would have been difficult to imagine when many of our congregational manuals were written.
Yet sometimes our organizational structures have remained remarkably unchanged. We may have a committee because we have always had that committee. We may elect a particular number of ruling elders because that was the right number when the congregation was twice its present size. We may conduct an annual pastoral evaluation because an old personnel policy tells us to do so, even though neither the Session nor congregation has articulated strategic priorities against which pastoral ministry could meaningfully be evaluated.
This is where polity, social science, and practical theology meet.
The Foundations of Presbyterian Polity begin not with organizational charts, committees, or even Sessions, but with ...(read more)

| MONTREAT YOUTH CONFERENCE 2027 | |
If you have any youth in your congregation who might be interested in attending Montreat Youth Conference, please be in touch with Pastor Jenny Gleichauf at jenny@covpres.org. Members of the Presbytery are looking particularly at week 2 (June 13-19) or at Week 5 (July 25-31). Week 5 is of particular interest because it mirrors what Triennium will be in 2028.
There are some funds that will help us defray costs, but we do not yet know what costs will be. Not every church will need to send adult chaperones.
