Colorado Consular Corps Reception                       The Office of International and Immigrant Affairs was honored to host the Colorado Consular Corps Reception last Oct. 19. Thanks to the Global Chamber, the Denver International Airport and the OIIA team for organizing such a successful event in celebration of our international and diplomatic community and in recognition of Aurora's efforts at the international level. It was wonderful to see many members of the Consular Corps reunited after two years.

Annual Refugee First Thanksgiving On Nov. 21, the African Community Center hosted its annual Refugee First Thanksgiving with a beautiful community dinner to welcome newcomers to Colorado. OIIA was a proud sponsor of this year’s event and is grateful to all the organizers and volunteers who made this community celebration possible.   Grand Opening of Langano Ethiopian restaurant                                 On Nov. 7, Langano Ethiopian restaurant opened its doors in Aurora. OIIA was honored to be part of the opening ceremony and congratulates Abdalla Abu and his wife Romana for bringing a taste of Ethiopia to our city. We invite you to visit Langano Ethiopian restaurant at 10180 E. Colfax Ave. Suite 116 and continue supporting small businesses that play a critical role in our local economy.  Aurora welcomes Consul General Dirk Jansen of the Netherlands and his staff.  Mayor Pro Tem, Francoise Bergan welcomed Consul General Dirk Jansen of the Netherlands and his staff. We look forward to working closely with Consul General Jansen and his team to broaden our friendship and constructive cooperation for the benefit of the community.    International Leadership Foundation (ILF) promoting the civic awareness.                                 Last Nov. 20, the International Leadership Foundation hosted a successful networking event to ILF has been working hard to promote civic awareness, public service, and economic effectiveness? of the Community. Kudos to ILF Colorado chapter for encouraging local youth to be civically engaged and to be a leader and advocate for the AAPI community  City resource training                                  Kudos to Aurora Water, Access Aurora, PROS and APD for making our second city resource training a complete success. Special thanks to our team of volunteers from various immigrant and refugee communities for attending this session.  Colorado Marshallese Community Organization         OIIA had a great introductory meeting with local Marshallese leaders and is looking forward to working closely with the Marshallese community on future projects. OIIA staff received a special heartwarming welcoming ceremony from the Colorado Marshallese community organization Aurora's Go Fund the City                             OIIA participated in Leadership Aurora's 2022 “Go Fund the City” program. This was an excellent opportunity to share information on current projects and highlight OIIA's collaboration with the local immigrant and international community.   National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) Convention                                 OIIA was honored to host the 2022 National Association of Hispanic Publications Convention reception last Nov. 16. NAHP represents small businesses owned by Hispanic entrepreneurs and an industry of 350 media outlets serving 41 markets in 39 states. NAHP’s members play a pivotal role in connecting the Hispanic community and providing information to diverse audiences.  OIIA participated Day of the Day Celebration hosted by "Amigos de Mexico". Special thanks to Aurora Police Department and Aurora Fire & Rescue for joining us. Day of the Dead Celebrations                                 The City of Aurora’s Office of International and Immigrant Affairs was a proud supporter of the Day of the Dead Celebration organized by VEC last Nov. 2. Kudos to Village Exchange Center team for putting together this beautiful celebration. Thanks to Mayor Coffman and Council Member Sundberg for joining us during this meaningful celebration.

Newcomer Job Fair   The Newcomer Job Fair was presented by Welcome US and hosted by the Community College of Aurora last Oct 22. We were excited to be part of a unique event to connect newcomers to employment opportunities in Denver and Aurora.
