All are Welcome...and we mean ALL.
As people of Grace, made one in the waters of baptism, we are strengthened by diversity. We are a community that is committed to racial equity and welcomes people of every ability, age, citizenship status, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, language, life circumstance, marital status, political perspective, race, sexual orientation, and creed.
Whether you are a believer, doubter, or seeker, or something in between,
you are welcomed and valued here. We celebrate God’s unconditional love and respond joyfully to all of God’s diverse people present here.

All Saints Sunday: Remembering,
Giving Thanks, and Finding Comfort
Dear Church,
As we enter November, our hearts turn toward All Saints Sunday, a sacred day in the life of the church when we pause to remember, give thanks, and lean into the communion of saints that surrounds us. Together, we honor those who have gone before us: loved ones whose faith shaped our lives, whose love nurtured us, and whose memories continue to inspire and guide us.
Grief is deeply personal. Each of us carries losses differently. Some wounds are fresh and tender; others have softened with time but still surface in unexpected moments. Wherever you find yourself in your journey of grief, All Saints Sunday reminds us that we do not walk alone. We are held in God's tender grace and joined together across generations by the enduring love of Christ. The saints who have gone before us remain part of the great story of faith, and their lives continue to bear witness to God's promises.
This year, as we light candles of remembrance, we will also make space to acknowledge a special kind of grief that many carry quietly. Our beloved pets often become cherished companions who share our daily lives with unconditional love, comfort, and joy. Their presence enriches our homes and hearts in profound ways. Remembering them and honoring our sorrow at their loss recognizes the many ways God's love reaches us through all of creation and through every creature entrusted to our care.
As we celebrate Holy Communion, may we be comforted by the assurance that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Surrounded by the communion of saints, past, present, and yet to come, we give thanks for those who have shaped us, for the memories that sustain us, and for the hope that carries us forward.
This season of remembrance also arrives at a significant moment in the life of our congregation. During November and December, we will journey together through several important transitions. We will prepare to conclude my interim pastoral ministry, give thanks for the faithful service of our music coordinator as she completes her ministry among us in December (Rebecca's farewell letter is included below), and joyfully welcome our new permanent pastor at the end of the year (Pr. Kendall's greeting message is also included below). As we reflect on God's faithfulness in the past, we also look forward with hope and gratitude to the new chapter unfolding before us.
Rather than viewing these months as simply a time of waiting, I invite us to see them as a precious season of shared ministry and meaningful connection. We still have sacred work to do together, stories to share, memories to create, and opportunities to care for one another. As we honor those who have gone before us, may we also cherish the gift of the present moment.
By holding one another in prayer, making space for grief and gratitude, and trusting God's faithfulness through every change, we can embrace this season with open hearts. The same God who has guided us in the past walks beside us now and leads us with hope into the future.
May God's peace surround you, God's love sustain you, and the witness of the saints encourage you in the days ahead.
With gratitude and care,
Rev. Jade Yi
Interim Transition Pastor

A Letter from Rebecca Herivel
Dear beloved of Pointe of Grace,
With love, grace, and good courage I write to you today to let you know that December 31st, 2026 will be my last day with you as Coordinator of Music Ministry.
After a long season of prayer and consideration, I have discerned that the next steps on my spiritual and creative journey are leading me elsewhere, into a new and different season of opportunity and growth. It has been my joy to serve you all and make beautiful music with you over these last four and a half years in this position, and over many years of cantoring prior to that. Pointe of Grace will always hold a tremendously special place in my heart, and I will continue to treasure the care, prayer, and love that you have shown me in my time here. The work of God through your hands has sustained me and my family across generations, and will continue to do so well into the future, even as our paths now diverge.
Thank you, and I wish you every blessing as you enter this new season as a congregation.
Soli deo gloria,
Rebecca Herivel

A Letter from Pr. Kendall Jenske
Greetings to you, good people of Pointe of Grace!
My name is Kendall Jeske, I use he/him pronouns, and I am delighted to have been called as your next pastor!
As some of you know, this is a homecoming of sorts for me, as a Kamiak grad, and I am excited and honored to be able to serve a community that helped raise me and inform who I have become. I look forward to joining with you in the ministries God has called you to in and around the Harbor Pointe area. You all are already engaged in such great work, in such meaningful worship, in such impactful ministry, and I am overjoyed to partner with you to continue in the life of the church, together.
I will join you in worship in the new year, and because of this timing, this upcoming season of Advent will have some special meaning around this practice of waiting, of anticipation, and of hope. It is my prayer for you all that this season is one of preparation and excitement, for God is up to something here! I also humbly ask for your prayers as my wife and I (with our cat) prepare for our move from California back to Washington. Thank you!
I am humbled and grateful for this call you have extended to me, and I am beyond excited and overjoyed to be joining you in the near future. Until then, God’s peace be with you each.
With a full and thankful heart,
Pastor Kendall Jeske

ELCA Youth Gathering 2027:
The Journey Has Begun!
With great joy and excitement, we are beginning our journey to the ELCA Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, June 28-July 2, 2027! The ELCA Youth Gathering offers young people a unique opportunity to grow in faith, deepen friendships, discover their gifts and callings, and experience the joy of being part of the wider church. It is a transformative event that inspires youth to live out their faith with confidence, purpose, and hope.
We are thrilled to share that three of our youth will represent Pointe of Grace at this life-changing event: Mikayla Bowman, Marleen Campbell, and Serena Raaum. We are also grateful that Annika Larsen, our former Coordinator of Children and Youth Ministries, will serve as the adult leader accompanying our group.
This journey belongs to all of us. As a congregation, we have the wonderful opportunity to encourage, pray for, and support these young people as they prepare for this important experience of faith, fellowship, and service.
Our youth and their families have already begun planning fundraising efforts to help make the trip possible. We are especially grateful to be partnering with the youth, families, and volunteers of Trinity Lutheran Church and School, who will be working alongside us in many of these fundraising activities. Through shared events, youth gatherings, and fellowship opportunities, our young people will begin building relationships and creating the community that the ELCA Youth Gathering seeks to foster, starting right here in our local congregations.
We invite you to join us in celebrating this exciting milestone and supporting our youth throughout next year. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity will help make this incredible experience a reality.
Thank you for investing in the faith and future of our youth.
"Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."
1 Timothy 4:12
With gratitude and joy,
Rev. Jade Yi

Parenting Teens with Love & Logic Class
The 3rd Sunday of each month at 11:00 am
When kids hit their teen years, parenting takes on a whole new dimension. Along with that, kids are frequently dealing with the challenges of social media and other technologies that we didn't have as kids ourselves. Still, we want them ready for their adult lives ahead while empowering them to make positive decisions and learning from their mistakes. We are offering a parenting class and support group to help gain new perspectives and strategies as parents.
We meet the 3rd Sunday of every month at 11am in the Meeting Room. The class is taught by Karl Olson, church member, Love and Logic trainer, educator, and parent. If you have any questions please e-mail Karl at karltolson@gmail.com
While parenting can feel lonely, this is a chance to come together to celebrate and collaborate.

Jesus vs Caesar:
For People Tired of Serving the Wrong God
Sat, Nov 14 from 9am-3pm
Edmonds United methodist Church
Facilitator: Dr. Joerg Rieger
Our second retreat, Jesus v. Caesar: For People Tired of Serving the Wrong God, explores the ways our lives have become intertwined with the empire of Capitalism. We end up serving false gods, of nation, of party, economy, and to the endless exhaustion and demand. This retreat is for anyone tired of quietly serving gods and looking for something practical to do as people of faith. Dr. Rieger introduces us to the practice of solidarity circles, and with neighbors and communities, and where we can build power for resistance in the temptations to follow the Caesars in our day.

“Homelessness: A Renewal of Commitment”
Your feedback is desired!
All ELCA members are invited to share feedback on draft revisions to the social message “Homelessness: A Renewal of Commitment,” first adopted in 1990. At the request of the 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly, the ELCA Church Council authorized a reconsideration for possible substantive revision of a section of the social message.
Reconsideration is a formal process of communal discernment about social issues in the church. This reconsideration allows the ELCA to revisit the social message in light of the church’s growing understanding of homelessness, the current lived realities of people who are unhoused or precariously housed, and changes in civil law and the economy that present new challenges to housing in the United States.
Visit ELCA.org/homelessness to read the draft and to submit your feedback via a survey before Nov. 30. Feedback, questions and concerns can also be sent to DraftSocialMessage@ELCA.org.

Mission to Seafarers
We Collect ditty bag supplies all year. Drop donations in the blue bin out side the church office.
What is a ditty bag? Do you use a small travel bag to hold important essentials when you take a trip? If so, you already use a ditty bag, or something like one! At the Seattle Seafarers Center, we provide about 1,000 ditty bags to merchant seafarers with bags full of all kinds of basic necessities each year.
What goes into a ditty bag?
At a minimum, all bags should include the following:
- an adult-sized knit hat
-
full size (not travel size) shampoo, body wash, or bar of soap
- full size toothpaste
- toothbrush (individually wrapped)
- deodorant
- shaving cream
- 1-2 razors
Some favorite toiletry brands of seafarers are Head & Shoulders, Dove, and Old Spice.
You can optionally include additional items such as:
- candy or snacks (ex. individually wrapped chocolate, nuts, or trail mix)
- deck of cards or other small games
- notepad and pen/pencil
- hand or body lotion
- socks or gloves
- a hand-written card
- something else special !
We also accept donations of sanitary products to include in ditty bags specifically for women. You can find a list of products here: Items for Female Seafarers.

The Spirit is on the move!
For the last 8 years our monthly publication The Spirit has featured articles from both the bishop AND the synod vice president. With a new vice president at the helm, we are shaking things up! While we will continue to offer a monthly message from the bishop (or the bishop's office) via The Spirit, we have added a NEW publication from the vice president called Lay of the Land in the PNW. In this monthly missive, Synod VP Cindy Shultz will share a story (or two) featuring lay leadership around the synod. Our hope is that congregations will share both of these messages in their newsletters.

We acknowledge
that our service is being held on the original and ancestral homelands of the Salish Coastal peoples, and we give thanks for their presence here since time of old. We remember and celebrate the Indigenous peoples and tribal nations who were the first to love, pray, grow, celebrate, cry, drum, and sing upon these lands. We also wish to recognize and honor all our Indigenous siblings who have and continue to call this land their home.
May all of us work towards learning and growing, and sharing in the journey towards truth and healing – especially as we work to fulfill our commitments as stated in "A Declaration of the ELCA to American Indian and Alaska Native People” as well as the 2022 Resolution that was passed by the Northwest Washington Synod Council to renew, restore, continue and grow in relationship with the Indigenous peoples who are our neighbors.
