Prioritizing H3 Jobs, Prioritizing Partnerships with economic and workforce development partners

Last January 25th, a Northern Arizona delegation led by Flagstaff Mayor Becky Daggett and workforce development partners visited the Arizona State University-Helios Foundation’s Decision Center for Educational Excellence in Phoenix and took a deep dive into Coconino County’s education and workforce data and research by Lightcast. H3 Jobs– high skills, high wage, and high demand; job count and job growth forecast by 2030; academic growth and proficiency; and educational and occupational pathways were highlighted in the discussion.

The partners represented included the City of Flagstaff, Northern Arizona University, Coconino Community College, CAVIAT, Flagstaff Unified School District, Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona, Education Forward Arizona, Candelen, United Way of Northern Arizona, and ARIZONA@WORK Coconino County. A roundtable discussion in pursuit of partnership and collaboration supporting and strengthening the continuum of education and workforce training concluded the gathering.

A Letter from the Executive Director

Happy New Year Team,

As the fresh pages of 2024 unfold before us, I can't help but feel a surge of both excitement and gratitude. Excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead, and immense gratitude for all of you – the driving force behind the magic we make on the Coconino County Workforce Board.

Last year, we faced unprecedented challenges. Yet, with your unwavering dedication and resourcefulness, we not only weathered the storms but emerged stronger, guiding countless individuals toward fulfilling careers and building a brighter future for our community.

The echoes of those successes and the lessons learned resonate as we step into 2024. Here are a few thoughts to carry us forward:

Embrace change: The job landscape is constantly evolving, so let's stay agile and innovative. We'll explore new training programs, partner with emerging industries, and embrace technology to empower job seekers and employers alike.

Double down on human connection: In a digital world, the human touch remains paramount. Let's foster a culture of empathy, understanding, and personalized support. Listen to the stories, acknowledge the struggles, and celebrate the triumphs of each individual we encounter.

Continue fostering collaboration: We are strongest when we work together. Let's break down silos, share best practices, and leverage our collective expertise to create a seamless experience for everyone.

Remember our purpose: Every resume reviewed, every interview facilitated, and every connection made strengthens our community. Let's keep that noble purpose at the heart of everything we do.

2024 is our canvas, a chance to paint a vibrant picture of opportunity and growth. Let's be bold and creative, and be relentlessly driven by the passion to empower our county.

I thank you for your commitment, your spirit, and your unwavering belief in the power of work to transform lives. May this year be one of immense personal and professional growth, filled with the satisfaction of knowing we've made a real difference.

Onward, together!

With immense pride and optimism,

Billy Francis
