April Membership Meeting

The Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) held its Regular Membership meeting on April 12, 2023, at Shaw's Crab House in Schaumburg, IL. The meeting was an opportunity for members to learn more about Powering Chicago and the benefits of increasing brand awareness for their companies.

Members were encouraged to participate in the Power of Better media to increase their companies' brands and networks. The benefits of branding were discussed, including increased visibility, customer recognition, and the ability to differentiate themselves from competitors.

Additionally, Don Finn, Business Manager for IBEW Local Union 134, and the newly formed Local 134 Codes & Standards Committee discussed their initiative to improve Electrical Commissions in every town and municipality, hoping to make the electrical industry the go-to resource for codes and standards.

The Electrical Commissions will provide education and training to local officials on electrical codes and standards and promote union electrical contractors' use. This initiative aims to improve safety and quality on construction projects and increase job opportunities for union electrical contractors.

Overall, the meeting allowed members to learn about essential initiatives in the electrical industry and network with their peers.

The Electrical Contractors' Association of City of Chicago (ECA) May Membership Meeting is to be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Union League Club of Chicago in Chicago, IL.

The focus for this session will be on the “Economic and Market Outlook" for the regional areas of Chicago. This presentation will examine the project spending and segment trends in construction and illuminate some product category trends and supply chain challenges.

WIN / FL Conference

(April 16 - 17, 2023) --

The Women in NECA and Future Leaders (WINFL) Leadership Conference featured two full days (April 16 - 17, 2023) of education and breakout sessions which included featured speakers, group discussions and networking opportunities for both groups. The Women in NECA and Future Leaders (WINFL) conference preceded NECA Now 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. Both NECA Now and WINFL were held at the J.W. Marriott Hill Country.

NECA Now Conference

(April 17 - 19, 2023) --

Far from your typical meeting, NECA NOW 2023 was a three-day Executive Leadership Conference focused on professional and personal growth. This Executive Leadership Conference provided attendees with the opportunity to gain insights into leadership development with presentations by top business experts. We thank all that were able to participate in both Conferences.

CISCO 35th Annual Luncheon

April 21, 2023

The Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) held its' 35th Annual Luncheon at Maggiano's Banquets on Friday, April 21, 2023 in Schaumburg, IL. Highlights of the program include the CISCO Annual Scholarship Awards, as well the featured presentation by Dan Seals, CEO of Intersect Illinois (pictured below). As Intersect Illinois' Chief Executive Officer, Dan Seals oversees all aspects of the organization, including marketing, sales, financing and personnel. Intersect Illinois is a public private partnership focused on global business development in Illinois. We thank all for their continued support of the CISCO organization.

IMSCA Lobby Day

April 26, 2023

IMSCA’s 2023 Lobby Day event was held on Wednesday, April 26^th, at the Sangamo Club in Springfield, IL. Lobby Day attendees received an overview of current legislation being considered by the Illinois General Assembly that has an impact on the Illinois construction industry. Attendees also had the opportunity to visit their State Senators and Representatives at the Illinois State Capitol to discuss important legislative matters. This year’s event included a “Construction Industry Legislative Reception” co-hosted by the Illinois Mechanical & Specialty Contractors Association (IMSCA) and the Illinois Construction Industry Committee (ICIC) that was also held at the Sangamo Club. The Association would like to thank all the members that were able to participate with this special legislative program (IMSCA Membership Meeting pictured below).

The Joint Safety Forum hosted by the Safety Committee's of the Electrical Contractors’ Association of City of Chicago (ECA) and the Northeastern Illinois Chapter of NECA, as well as by PowerForward DuPage was held on April 28, 2023 at the DuPage / Local 701 JATC in Warrenville, IL. The Forum focused on "Fall Protection and Prevention for the Electrical Worker" and a NECA Safety Meeting App update.

NECA Safety Professionals Conference

The NECA Safety Professionals Conference (NSPC) is open to all NECA Members, IBEW and electrical training Alliance members.
