It's a new year and the state legislative sessions are back.

The Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities supports legislation that advances the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life by eliminating barriers, creating opportunities, empowering people, and promoting innovation. One of those facets is transportation.

Authored by State Representative David Ray of Maumelle, HB 1046 is designed to make wheelchair accessible vehicles more affordable.
Lancome's HAPTA Device Is A Huge Win For Disability Inclusion In The Beauty World
A recent Instagram post from Lancôme notes that the new HAPTA device is "a handheld, ultra-precise smart makeup applicator for users with limited hand and arm mobility, offering them the ability to steadily apply lipstick at home.”
Member Spotlight: Kimberly Horton

Our Council members advocate for people with disabilities day in and day out. This month, we would like to thank Kimberly Horton for her service as Council member. Kim's term of service ended in December of 2022.

Horton served as a parent advocate member of the Council for the past 7 years. In her first term, she worked with her fellow members to guide the Council through an important reorganization period. In her second term of service, Horton participated with her colleagues in development of the current five-year state plan. Kim and her family reside in Malvern.

Your service on the Council was greatly appreciated. We wish you all the best in your advocacy journey!
