Becoming a Restorative Educator Synchronous Course (2 MSDE CPD Credits)
This course focuses on strategies and skills needed to effectively build a safe learning community that fosters an environment of trust, support, motivation and engagement. Participants will learn the fundamentals of restorative practices and how to transition to a restorative mindset with useable, real-world techniques that can be applied immediately into practice. Implementation of preventative practices include, but are not limited to, a well-managed classroom with reduced student disruptions and behavior issues, an age-appropriate approach to behavior modifications, and a more positive and collaborative home-school relationship approach. Restorative practices course provides educator with a framework in which challenging behavior can be addressed, in an authentic manner, to bring understanding and make things right.
This course is free to MSEA members, and upon completion of all course requirements, certificated members will be eligible for 2 Continuing Professional Development credits through MSDE applicable to recertification.
