Together We Thrive:

Reflecting on a Year of Building Belonging

As we look back on the past year, the words “Together, We Thrive” resonate deeply with everything we’ve accomplished at Amani Family Services. We are so grateful for the collective strength, resilience, and collaborative efforts that have defined 2025.

Amani Celebrates Volunteers at Appreciation Dinner

On December 9, Amani had the privilege of hosting our ongoing volunteers and committee members for a special Volunteer Appreciation Dinner in celebration of International Volunteer Day. This evening of food, music, and camaraderie was the perfect setting for honoring the incredible individuals who generously share their talent, time, and treasure to uplift and support our immigrant and refugee community.

We are thrilled to recognize Catherine Martin as Amani’s Volunteer of the Year!

Catherine first connected with Amani when her employer, Canterbury Schools, donated the proceeds from the 2024 Hancock Lecture to our organization. Over the past two years, she has played a vital role on the One Beat fundraiser committee and supported Amani at community outreach events.

Catherine's leadership and care shine through in everything she does - whether it's securing auction donations, recruiting food vendors, or overseeing food volunteers during the event.

Catherine, we are undescribably grateful for your unwavering support and dedication. Thank you for helping us make a difference! Read more about Catherine's volunteer experience on our blog.

Thank You - Giving Tuesday Donors!

We are profoundly grateful to the generous donors who supported Amani Family Services' endowment through the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne's #GivingTuesday Fort Wayne Challenge. Your contributions are an investment in Amani's future, ensuring that we can continue to create meaningful, lasting change.

A special thank you to the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne for providing this incredible opportunity and to Amani's Board of Directors for coming together to create a dollar-for-dollar match, amplifying the impact of every gift.

To everyone who gave: your generosity makes a difference. Your support strengthens Amani's ability to serve our community today and in the future.

There’s still time to make an impact! Visit amanifamilyservices.org/donate to contribute and learn more.

Together, we are building a stronger, more inclusive community.

Welcoming Fort Wayne Spotlight:

Wabash County Diversity Coalition Receives G4G Challenge Award

On December 15, 2025, the American Immigration Council and Welcoming America announced the newest Gateways for Growth (G4G) Challenge cohort. Wabash County, Indiana was among the 10 local communities to receive the award. The 2026 awardees will receive a mix of customized research, technical assistance, and planning to support strategies to ensure all residents - including immigrants - can succeed and fully contribute to their communities.

The Wabash County Diversity Coalition was established by Mayor Scott Lang as an initiative in 2019, and has since evolved into a formal organization dedicated to addressing diversity in the community. Like many other rural counties in Indiana, Wabash County has seen an increase in Spanish speakers and immigrants in the past few years. The Coalition works closely with local foundations, universities, and community groups to lay the foundation for a more inclusive and vibrant community.

Welcoming Fort Wayne-Allen County was a recipient of the G4G Challenge Award in 2023. The award supported the creation of the Welcoming Fort Wayne Plan and set the groundwork for Allen County's Welcoming Certification in 2025. Congratulations Wabash County on this achievement!
