HT is well "versed": After photo bombing the Marketing department with hundreds of first week of school pics, Mrs. Miller nabbed herself Photo of the Week status with this early morning praise-worthy shot of our selected schoolwide Bible verse for the 2023-24 school year. Kindness prevails at HT, which is why we're so grateful for every photo that helps make our job a little easier!

HT LATIN REPRESENTS AT NATIONAL LATIN COMPETITION
Holy Trinity had 16 students attend the National Latin Competition at Emory University from July 23rd to 28th -- the most students of any school in Florida. Our students had a wonderful time and made good friends at the event from across the country. Holy Trinity’s competitors were Anna Dlugasch, Rachel Dlugasch, Olivia Durgin, Ronnie Fernandez, Jules Holleran, Kate Hughes, Victoria Lee, Victor Lupo, John Mitnik, Fefe Montalvo, Jonathan Nunes, Matthew Nunes, Milli Patel, Ellie Riggs, Alex Ruddock, and, Soham Shah. This competition is very competitive and draws many of the smartest students from across the country.
One of the most prestigious events at the competition is Certamen, which is a fast-paced buzzer competition focusing on ancient topics. Each state picks its best students in qualifying competitions and the states meet in the summer to determine the national championships. Five HT students came home from the competition as national champions. Jules Holleran was the mythology expert on Florida’s winning Novice Certamen team. In addition, she was named Most Valuable Player in the entire Novice division. Florida’s Intermediate team, which included HT’s John Mitnik as history expert, qualified for the finals and finished 3rd place in the nation. Finally, Soham Shah, Ellie Riggs, Jonathan Nunes, and Fefe Montalvo competed on Florida’s Advanced team and won the National Championship in an exciting final round. Florida’s entire Advanced team was comprised of Holy Trinity students in the Finals. In addition, Fefe Montalvo, Jonathan Nunes, and Ellie Riggs were all inducted in the National Certamen Hall of Fame for winning multiple national championships.
In addition to Certamen, many Holy Trinity students also excelled at competitive academic testing at Nationals. Here were the results. Congratulations to all!

NASA TechRise Student Payloads Explore New Heights
On July 21st, Holy Trinity was among the winning teams from 30 middle and high schools across the nation to watch as their science and technology experiments launched to the stratosphere aboard a high-altitude balloon from Aerostar. The balloon launched at approximately 7:30 a.m. CDT from Hurley, South Dakota. Student projects flew for about six hours in the stratosphere, reaching an altitude of over 70,000 feet, or 13 miles above Earth. The payloads collected data on a wide range of space exploration and Earth observation experiments in areas like radiation sensing and shielding, agriculture, human health, weather, and climate. Our HT team received their payload back last week and have already started analyzing the findings. Stay tuned! Learn more about the TechRise Student Challenge. Read about our team in the Viera Voice.

NEED STUDENT VOLUNTEER HOURS?
Our Athletics Dept.
Wants YOU!
Looking for ways earn volunteer hours? Holy Trinity's Athletics Department has plenty of opportunities to help! Here are just a few:
-
Social Media Content Provider – Capture the excitement in the stands, on the turf, field, in the pool, on the green, and/or courtside in photos and short video clips for posting to HT Athletics' social media pages. We need students who are masters of the "Gram" and can rock the "Tok" to cover the action at practices and games. You can produce your own videos and/or provide your best photos/video to our Marketing Dept. for posting. You will receive photo/video credit for your submissions.
-
Mr. Tiger Mascot - HT is always looking for eager students to don the tiger costume and participate in pep rallies, game photo opportunities and even some sideline fun.
-
Football Games – Assist with Blue & Gold Club: parking attendants, event set-up and break-down, serve as runners, etc.
-
Volleyball Games – We need stat keepers, team managers, announcers and volunteers to run the concession stand.
These are just a few of the ways you can help the department. If you have other ideas, we'd love to hear them! Students should reach out to Coach Kelce or Coach Brown if interested in earning hours.
