Leadership Update: CCO Announces New Chapter of Stability and Service

Kaleen Deatherage will remain CEO of Catholic Charities of Oregon at least through 2027, ensuring continuity as the agency strengthens its finances and sharpens its mission focus. Over the past year, she has streamlined operations and reaffirmed a compassionate, service-first approach.

As part of a routine transition, the Board elected Deborah Gentzen as Board Chair, succeeding Jeff Yandle to help guide this next chapter. Together, Deatherage, Gentzen and the Board emphasize transparency, stewardship and services, accompanying people on the margins with housing, legal support and pathways to stability and hope.

Voices of Hope

Meet Tom Dulley, resident services specialist at Good Shepherd Village. This Q&A with Tom is the launch of our ongoing feature, Voices of Hope, where we'll shine the spotlight on members of the CCO community, including staff, partners, board members, volunteers and clients.

Local salon Saint Hair has partnered with us to offer free haircuts to women at Kenton Women's Village. Small acts of care like this help restore dignity, confidence and hope.

Thanks to extraordinary community support, our Emergency Appeal has raised nearly $900,000 toward our $1 million goal. We're almost there, and gifts are still coming in. No donation is too small. Every little bit helps us keep hope alive for our neighbors across Oregon.

Mark Your Calendars!

Starting Dec. 1, we will be soliciting donations and seeking volunteers for the Annual Holiday Toy and Joy Shop for our clients, slated for Dec. 19. And we are excited to announce the date for our yearly gala, the Celebration of Hope on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026.
