News and notes from the week

🏥 This fall, Phoenix mom Lindy Teraji heard the words no parent is prepared to hear: “The pathology is back, it’s cancer.” Her bright, active, beautiful 10-year-old son Easton had been diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. Easton’s cancer journey has been marked by immense courage, resilience and the love of family and friends. He has already completed his second round of chemotherapy and returned home to recover, where his days were a mix of highs and lows.

⛏️ In January, Cave Creek Museum will showcase its exciting Arizona Gold Mining Experience. The multi-pronged, interactive experience features a mine shaft that “explodes” with sights and sounds, a tramway that transports ore, the incredible, historic 10-stamp mill, gold panning and more. This unique experience is brought to life by the museum’s skilled volunteers. One of those individuals, Paul Diefenderfer, has fulfilled the role of volunteer for more than 16 years.

🛍️ Kiwanis Marketplace is thrilled to announce its annual “Lots in Our Lot” sale on Sunday, Dec. 15, where shoppers can find incredible bargains right in the parking lot, with every item priced at just $2. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., enjoy a treasure hunt of amazing finds at unbeatable prices. The Marketplace will also be open, ensuring even more deals await inside.
