More Than Just a Project Supporting Hospice at Home West Cumbria

A Very Special Project Close to Our Hearts

This week’s newsletter is a very special one.

At Austwick Media, we support a number of charities across Cumbria by giving our time and expertise through video and photography. It is a big part of who we are as a business.

We know that powerful visuals make a real difference. They help (in this case) charities raise awareness, connect with people, and clearly show the impact of what they do. Through creating video content for Hospice at Home West Cumbria, we are also able to showcase something genuinely exciting… a new space that will be a real game changer.

As a growing business, giving back has always been important to us. When we first started, we knew no one in Cumbria. Since then, we have built strong relationships, real friendships, and become part of a community that has supported us from day one.

Cumbria is now a place we are proud to call home, and supporting local charities is our way of giving something back.

One of the charities we are supporting this year is Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Windermere House Workington

Hospice at Home West Cumbria's New Building

We were invited for a coffee with the team, where we sat down with Leanne Appleton and Jessica Woolaghan alongside my partner Nikkie Waldock. As they spoke about the charity and the support they provide, their passion was clear. When they shared their plans for Windermere House in Workington, you could feel the excitement about what this space is going to become.

They asked if we could document the refurbishment through video. It was a no-brainer, and of course, we said yes.

As a business, we cannot support every charity, but each year we choose a couple of charities where we can make a real difference.

Charities rely heavily on support, whether that is time, funding, or skills. By providing what we do best, we can help them reach more people, raise awareness, and ultimately continue the incredible work they carry out.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria provides palliative care for people who are terminally ill, supporting not just individuals, but their families too. This is something that resonates deeply with us, having experienced loss within our own family. The care they provide is truly invaluable.

Using our skills as a full-service media company, we are now working in partnership with them to document the transformation of Windermere House through both video and photography.

We have already started that journey, capturing the building as it is now, before the refurbishment begins. This sets the foundation for the full story, allowing people to see the transformation from start to finish.

And when it is complete, it will be so much more than just a building.

It will be a place of care, comfort, and support. A space designed to help people through some of the most difficult times in their lives.

A place that will make a real difference to families across West Cumbria.

Being part of this journey means a great deal to us. It reminds us exactly why we do what we do, and how powerful visual storytelling can be. Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of Windermere House, Hospice at Homes new home.

If you’d like to read more about the project and the plans for Windermere House, you can view the full press release here.

If you are a business or organisation looking to tell your story through video and photography, we would love to help.
