3 HT SENIORS ARE NATIONAL MERIT COMMENDED STUDENTS; RECOGNIZED FOR EXCEPTIONAL ACADEMIC PROMISE

A Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) was presented today to Sydney Crane, Cash Luck, and Rohan Prasanna this week. Approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishment, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

6TH GRADE VISITS THE UPPER SCHOOL

We are one school with two campuses,” Mrs. Miller, Holy Trinity’s Head of School, reinforced as she welcomed our 54 sixth graders to the Upper School campus this past Tuesday. During their visit, students enjoyed learning what it is like to be a student at the Upper School campus. They explored the Tiger Athletic Complex, attended chapel service, and toured the main part of campus in groups guided by student ambassadors, visiting several Junior High academic and elective classes. They heard from Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Euziere, Head of the Junior High, Mrs. Long, Junior High Academic Advisor, Coach Kelce, Junior High Athletic Director, Mrs. Roach and Mrs. Grant, Junior High Academic Coaches, and students in grades 7 through 12.

AN APPLE A DAY, THE LADYBUG WAY

In Mrs. Day's Early Childhood class, the Ladybug's monthly unit for October is "The Farm." Students have been learning about farm animals, the jobs a farmer has, and the food that farms grow. Their dramatic play center is set up as the farm; complete with farm animals, ladybug painted backgrounds, and food to harvest. This week they have been learning about apples. On Thursday, these Ladybugs helped dice apples for applesauce, measured the ingredients and stirred everything together. Then they all had a chance to enjoy their cooking project.

OBJECTS IN PROJECTILE MOTION...

Students in Dr. Herntier’s Physics Class were studying projectile motion this week. Armed with the initial launch speed, angle, and an understanding of kinematics, the students calculated the exact position of small rings so that the projectile would pass through their centers. There was no dress rehearsal. They had one shot to get it right! But did they? You'll have to watch and see...

PHOTOGRAPHY'S "WORD OF THE WEEK"

The "Word of the Week" from Ms. Fleis' AP/Portfolio Honors class was "Reflection." The winner is junior Katie Hughes.

NEED STUDENT VOLUNTEER HOURS?

Our Athletics Dept.

Wants YOU!

Looking for ways earn volunteer hours? Holy Trinity's Athletics Department has plenty of opportunities to help! Here are just a few:

  • Social Media Content Provider – Capture the excitement in the stands, on the turf, field, in the pool, on the green, and/or courtside in photos and short video clips for posting to HT Athletics' social media pages. We need students who are masters of the "Gram" and can rock the "Tok" to cover the action at practices and games. You can produce your own videos and/or provide your best photos/video to our Marketing Dept. for posting. You will receive photo/video credit for your submissions.
  • Mr. Tiger Mascot - HT is always looking for eager students to don the tiger costume and participate in pep rallies, game photo opportunities and even some sideline fun.
  • Football Games – Assist with Blue & Gold Club: parking attendants, event set-up and break-down, serve as runners, etc.
  • Volleyball Games – We need stat keepers, team managers, announcers and volunteers to run the concession stand.

These are just a few of the ways you can help the department. If you have other ideas, we'd love to hear them! Students should reach out to Coach Kelce or Coach Brown if interested in earning hours.

SUPPORT YOUR TIGERS - BECOME AN ATHLETIC BOOSTER!

Please consider supporting your HT Athletic Boosters. Your donation directly supports the coaches and the sports teams and is greatly appreciated! Visit the Athletic Booster Club's page and remember to "like" and follow the HT Athletic Boosters' Facebook Group
