Let's Catch Up!

UWCL at Alexandria Rotary Club

On Tuesday, May 19th, United Way of Central Louisiana was awarded grant funding from the Rotary Club of Alexandria Louisiana.

On Tuesday, May 26th, President & CEO of United Way of Central Louisiana Lafe Jones presented at the club to discuss where our organization is heading during our "recharge" year.

We were busy this month at the Rotary Club of Alexandria! Earlier this month, we were graciously awarded grant funding from the organization to advance operations and support what we love doing the most: investing in our local community. Congratulations are in order to the other awardees that we are confident will do great work in Central Louisiana.

This week, Lafe Jones presented at the same club to discuss our long-term goals as we reintroduce and reinvigorate our mission.

Our 70-Year Legacy Event Hosted by

Red River Bank

On Tuesday, April 28th, we held our 70-Year Legacy reception hosted and sponsored by Red River Bank. This event was meant to connect our past to our ever evolving present as we prepare for the bright future ahead of us at United Way of Central Louisiana. We wanted to honor our roots and celebrate the people that helped shape our story, because without them, we wouldn't have been able to invest into this community for 70 years strong. Thank you to Blake Chatelain, Tammi Salazar, and Madeline Ducote of Red River Bank for all the help and support.

If you have ever been affiliated with United Way of Central Louisiana in the past, please take the time to fill out our quick 70-Year Legacy Survey at the link below. We want to hear from you if you have ever volunteered, donated, served on a board or committee, partnered, participated in an event or otherwise!

Our VITA Numbers Are In!

We got in the numbers for our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program 2025 tax filing season... and we saved Central Louisiana residents $151,200 in tax preparation fees and got back $415,445 total in refund dollars!

Second Chance Job and Resource Fair

Thank you so much to all the amazing employers, vendors, and attendees that showed up and showed out for our 2nd Chance Job and Resource Fair on April 22nd! Through our LaPRI (Louisiana Prisoner Reentry Initiative) program (ran by our LaPRI Program Coordinator Tony Thomas) in partnership with the city of Alexandria and the Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections, this was a great opportunity for finding work.

Coffee and Conversations Session 2

On April 9th, we had another full house for our second session of our quarterly Coffee and Conversations series! Attendees got to provide invaluable feedback for us and information on the awesome work their organizations are doing in the community, and for that we could only be grateful! Stay tuned and be on the lookout for our next quarterly installation.
