RFA Communities Launching in Idaho

Earlier this month, our executive director Daphne Johnston traveled to Boise, Idaho, to to help train volunteers for Care Collective, a new respite community opening at Cathedral of the Rockies, Boise FUMC. Another respite ministry is also opening soon at Sandpoint UMC in Sandpoint, ID, and their leaders traveled to Boise to be part of the training.

RFA Community Earns Accolades

R Place, the Respite for All community launched in 2023 in Chapel Hill, NC, is a stellar program hosted by the Orange County Department on Aging (OCDOA) Aging Transitions division that shows how easily the RFA faith-based model can be adapted for secular entities. And that’s not just our opinion! R Place earned two big accolades this month. On June 11, R Place received the Governor’s Award for Volunteer Services, and on June 18, the community received a National Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). There are over 3000 county governments in the country and well over 9000 nominations were submitted for 2025. R Place was one of the awardees in the Human Services category.

Local School Supports Respite Ministry

The Respite Ministry at First United Methodist Church in Montgomery received an incredible level of support this year from the students of Montgomery Academy. Each year the school selects a Focus Agency, and this year that honor went to Respite Ministry. More than 380 students across all divisions volunteered during the year and also organized a number of fundraisers, raising $23,966.01 to support Respite's mission.
