KEY MOMENTS

NACo APPOINTMENT TO LARGE URBAN COUNTY CAUCUS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

In 2024, Commissioner Thorne has been appointed to two key committees by National Association of Counties (NACo) President James Gore: The International Economic Development Task Force and the Large Urban County Caucus. In these roles, she will represent Fulton County and other large counties on national policy issues related to economic development, infrastructure, public safety, and community health.

In November, Commissioner Thorne participated in a trade mission to Colombia with the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This was a great opportunity to share why Fulton County is a great place to come do business and invest your money. Additionally, we worked to expand international opportunities for Fulton County businesses. As always, it is a great opportunity to share the great things happening in Fulton County with people not only at home, but abroad.

CONTINUED TO FIGHT FOR ELECTION TRANSPARENCY

When Commissioner Thorne was elected, she made a commitment to always fight for integrity and transparency in our elections. This past year being a presidential election was an important opportunity to continue fighting for what’s right. Specifically, Commissioner Thorne made a constant push to bring light to how elections are run, invite the public to be a part of and observe elections, and halt runaway spending. Election integrity is a non-partisan issue, and Commissioner Thorne will never back down from her work.
