MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR

This Sunday, we pause our usual journey through the Easter season to mark a pivotal moment in the life of our faith: the Feast of the Ascension. Though traditionally celebrated 40 days after Easter (on a Thursday), we’re transferring the feast to Sunday so that more of us can experience the beauty and power of this holy day together.

The Ascension tells the story of the risen Jesus, who, after appearing to his disciples and teaching them for forty days, is taken up into heaven, blessing them as he goes. On the surface, it might feel like a moment of departure. But the truth of the Ascension is not about absence, it’s about presence in a new way. Christ ascends not to leave us, but to reign over all creation, to fill all things, and to empower us for the work ahead.

This moment is a threshold: between resurrection and responsibility, between Jesus walking beside us and the Spirit rising within us. The Ascension is a commissioning, it’s Jesus placing his mission into our hands and promising us the gift of the Holy Spirit.

That promise will be fulfilled next Sunday, on the Feast of Pentecost, when we celebrate the gift of the Spirit and the birth of the Church. But before we run ahead, the Ascension invites us to pause. To stand in awe. To look up and around. To wonder, Where is Jesus now? What does it mean that he is still with us, just in a different way?

So come this Sunday, and stand with us on this threshold. Celebrate the risen and ascended Christ. And come ready, because Pentecost is coming and the Spirit is about to move.

ECW Updates

ECW breakfast at Dreamweaver will be June 7th. We meet in the back room.

Our next business meeting is Saturday, June 21st, at 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall.

Senior Singles

The Crafting/Needlework Group

Attention All Saints Family!!!!

During the month of June, we will be collecting school supply and hygiene products to support local families. This is the 4^th Annual Back to School drive and with your help, it will be a success. The Health Ministry Team Network of Calvert County is coordinating this drive. There is a box in the rear of the church for you to leave your supplies and products during the month of JUNE. A list of the supplies and hygiene products needed is below. Thank you for supporting local families in need.

Our first blood drive was such a success last year, that we are planning two this year! The Blood Drive will be on Monday, July 14th from 1 to 6 PM in the lower level of the Parish Hall. The Men's Breakfast is always the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 am at Traders Restaurant in Chesapeake Beach. Jim Thrift, our convener, will be in attendance setting up the room before 9:00. The breakfasts are for all Christian men for fellowship and fun. We discuss most everything except religion. Plan to attend and bring a friend as all are welcome, especially newcomers. If you attend you'll have fun, if you don't, we'll talk about you.

The Calvert Peace Project is pleased to offer our county’s youth the Peaceful Youth Leaders Summer of Service. This week-long experience, featuring volunteer opportunities enriched by lessons and reflection, is designed for youth ages 12 through 18 and will take place from July 14 = 19, 2025, with each day held at a different community organization location.
