WEEK 6 OF ORDINARY TIME
Weakness Will Save Us
But the Lord said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So I will boast more gladly of my weakness in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and constraints for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Cor 12: 9-10)

Over the years, I have found great consolation in these words of St. Paul. It’s counter-intuitive for us to think of weakness being strength, but when it comes to our relationship with Jesus Christ, it’s absolutely true.

They may not have known it at the time, but the Kindergarten students participated in a major STEAM project while learning about the life cycle of penguins and how they are able to keep themselves warm in extreme cold. They loved learning about the special fat (called blubber) which keeps penguins warm.

To help the Kindergarten students learn and appreciate how blubber works, they conducted an experiment. Each student placed one hand in a bowl of ice water, and put their other hand inside a blob of lard which they then put in a plastic bag and placed in the container of ice water.

Students quickly learned that they could keep the hand that was immersed in lard in the ice cold water MUCH LONGER than the hand with no protection.
They enjoyed this experiment so much that they had a hard time talking about anything else for the remainder of the afternoon!
