THANKSGIVING BASKET CEREMONY
The Lower School’s annual Thanksgiving Basket Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at 8:00am in the church. The event will be for grades 1-6.
For those who are not familiar with this tradition, the entire Lower School community works together to provide Thanksgiving meals for 28 families in the Melbourne area. This collected effort presents a wonderful opportunity for our students to see their acts of service and love amplified in such a tangible way, during the Thanksgiving holiday. The ceremony also provides the opportunity for our students to collectively pray for the families who will be receiving these Thanksgiving baskets. Parents are welcome to attend.

THE BUZZ ON THE BEE
We are pleased to announce that our 2022-2023 Lower School Spelling Bee will be on Monday, January 9, 2023. Students in grades 4–6 will participate in a qualifying round prior to this during class as we have done in the past. The top nine from each grade level will participate on Jan. 9th in our lower school bee which will be held in the church sanctuary immediately following our regular chapel service.
This year, students have a new way to study for the qualifying round by downloading the “Word Club” app for free in the app store. If your student is selected to participate in our lower school bee, they will receive a list of words to study before we leave for Christmas break.
There will not be a county spelling bee this year. Instead, school winners will participate in an online narrowing process. The top 50 spellers from across nine counties will advance to the Orlando Regional Spelling Bee in February.

We are looking for three parent supervisors for The Huddle after school from 3:00-4:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the school year. Volunteers can each choose one day a week to supervise the students who come each day to play games, get snacks, and study and they need an adult presence near the games. We would appreciate your help so that we can keep The Huddle going for the kids since they really do enjoy it! Please contact Mrs. Schweitzer at mschweitzer@htes.org to confirm your interest.

PROBLEM SOLVING CAMPUS PARKING
As part of an academic partnership with Florida Institute of Technology, Holy Trinity offers a dual enrollment class, Foundations in Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (CIE). This course is taught by a Florida Tech adjunct professor on the Holy Trinity campus. CIE is an introductory business course designed to help students explore all functions related to business creation and growth. This course emphasizes hands-on activities and combines both theory and practice. Students use the KUD (Know, Understand, Do) approach to introduce, learn and reinforce major concepts. The course draws upon a variety of concepts from all business disciplines. Students are introduced to principles, vocabulary, and techniques necessary to start a new business and/or launch a new business idea in an existing business.
Recently, CIE students explored options for alleviating parking overflow, traffic, and other related issues at the Upper School. They conducted research which included meeting with the Brevard County Traffic Operations Center and conducting a survey of students and staff. They evaluated traffic patterns and considered the pros and cons of other parking location options. The students gave an impressive and compelling presentation of their findings to Dr. Cobb, Dean Henderson and our US Heads of Schools, Mrs. Euziere and Mrs. Buist, on Tuesday. A few of the options were ones not yet considered by school administration, but now being looked into as possible solutions.

Hello!
As I sit down to write this second entry for our new Chaplain’s Chat, I couldn’t help but think of the events of this week. After weeks of preparation, many of us were busy putting the finishing touches on projects such as the Thanksgiving Basket Blessing Ceremonies, Veterans Day, and Field Trips. Then the unexpected interruption of a storm brewing in the Atlantic halted everything.
A few weeks prior, we had gone through the experience of Hurricane Ian and to think that nearing the end of the Hurricane season, we were bracing ourselves once again to face Nicole. I pray that you and your families have weathered this storm with minimum damage, and that you are all well and safe.
I also pray that the unexpected arrival of this storm will cause us all to pause and to reflect more deeply on those instances in our own lives where our plans are interrupted, and we are forced to be still and to seek God’s presence for comfort, for safety, and for peace.
Life will never fail to throw curve balls, but as we mitigate these experiences through our own flexibility, let us also remember that in all things and in all circumstances, no matter how unexpected, we are never outside of the boundaries of God’s grace or Gods love.
As we move forward, post storm, with the clean ups and the re-engagement of rescheduled events and activities, let us reflect on our reliance upon God, our Heavenly Father and Creator, and to never negate our dependence upon on him, but to lean into the reality that all that we do is never without him…. and shouldn’t be.
Blessings and Peace,
Chaplain Garcia.

Scholarship Season is here! September through December is when most college applications are submitted. If you are interested in earning some scholarship money and you have not started pursuing opportunities already, from November onward is a good time to research and apply for college scholarships. Schools often email their applicants and admitted students with their scholarship opportunities, so watch your email.
Some good sources to find outside scholarships are:
And more…. There are other websites, so use a search engine to research college scholarships. Outside scholarships are often smaller and require much research and application work, so be prepared to work to find money to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses.
