Around the Council

May All Team Meeting

Friday, May 1st, was the May All Team meeting at Camp Potomac Woods in Leesburg, VA.

The team received hats with custom GSCNC logo patches as a unifying accessory to wear during convention week.

The team gave Robert Meidlinger (Business Operations) a heartfelt farewell. After an incredibly long career making the GSCNC equipment center what it is today, he is moving to the West Coast for his next chapter.

Carrie Banachowski, his supervisor, read a poem she wrote for Robert.

Interim Chief Operating Officer Donna Childs also got a GSCNC send-off as she moves to Washington State after her time in DC.

Joy In Action

Moments of joy, especially those rooted in connection and purpose, help sustain us even in challenging times.

Here are some moments of Joy in Action from our staff:

Amy Robinson (People & Culture)

"A moment of joy for me this month was attending the Girl Scouts in the Arts event at Sitar Arts Center with my Brownie daughter, Maisie, on May 16th. It was great getting to see Emma Derogatis-Frilingos and Leah Glicker create such a fun and engaging experience for the Girl Scouts attending. It gave me a firsthand look at the creative experiences our organization provides and a continued appreciation for all the hard work our Program Services team does."

Betsy Purves (Philanthropy)

"My daughter Claire and I visited Camp Potomac Woods on Saturday, April 25 for Core Camp Palooza. It was so fun to see our youth in their element at camp, and even more meaningful to give Claire a sneak peek at the experiences she'll get to have next year as a Daisy. She loved learning how to shoot a slingshot! Special thanks to Rebecca for touring us around and answering all our questions."

Julia Funari (Membership Team 4)

"This month, I took a tour of the Equipment Center for the first time with Naila A. and Shellise P., since both Naila and I had never been there. We had a chance to both meet Robert before he left, as well as see all of the great things the Equipment Center has to offer! I learned about all of the possibilities the Center offers for Troops wanting to complete service hours, or girls who want to earn higher level awards. It made me grateful for all the work the Equipment Center employees put in to keep such a unique and helpful service up and running."
