Welcome to 2024, Happy New Year!

New Provider

We are excited to introduce our newest provider Allison Belmonte who will be joining Davis Square Family Practice this month. Allison comes to us with years of experience as a registered nurse caring for the residents of Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA. She is a compassionate, enthusiastic Family Nurse Practitioner who will be welcoming new patients onto her panel in March of 2024.

New Patients

We are excited to announce a new system for welcoming new patients into our practice. We have established a database for those who desire to become a new patient at our practice. We will then reach out to those patients as providers become available.

If you know someone who wants to become a patient at our practice, please tell them to call us and ask to be added to our database.

Insurance

Due to the new year it is routine for many plans to send out new cards, start new plans, and assign a different PCP, Primary Care Physician. It is really important, for many reasons, that this information gets updated accurately. The incorrect insurance information in your chart or wrong PCP listed on your policy may cause your insurance to deny payment of claims and/or deny requests for specialist referrals.

How to avoid these problems?

  • Go into your MyChart account and enter your insurance information and submit a picture of your card, front and back.
  • Verify with your insurance that we are your assigned primary care physician.

These simple steps will allow your time in our office to be more efficiently utilized.

Medications

There are medication changes every year as insurance plans negotiate deals with various pharmaceutical companies.

Medications that you have been taking for years may be suddenly rejected and require that we apply for a prior authorization due to these contract changes.

Please read your insurance notifications as this is often how they will let you know they are no longer covering your necessary medications. If this happens, please notify us as soon as possible

Often it is okay for our providers to send in an alternative, AND we will apply for a prior authorization to keep your treatment consistent.

Referrals

If you are seeing a specialist routinely or going to physical therapy, occupation therapy, speech therapy, or have alternative remedies that are utilized for your care, it may be important to re-apply for referrals.

We are happy to reprocess those for you. Please notify us before any upcoming appointments so we are able to avoid any lapse in coverage and un-necessary cost.

If you need a new referral, contact us before your first appointment with the following information:

  • Specialist Name
  • Their NPI (national provider number)
  • Date of first visit
  • Reason for visit to specialist
  • Phone and fax number of specialist's office

Please allow up to 5 days for your referral to be processed.
