WFW Plan Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary

One year ago, on January 23, 2024, Amani Family Services in partnership with Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. and Downtown Fort Wayne launched the Welcoming Plan - a 3-5 year roadmap crafted by community leaders to create a place where immigrants and refugees feel welcome, valued, and included. Over the past year, these leaders have continued to make progress that strengthens our community. While there is more to accomplish, today, we celebrate the strides we've made together. Interactive "Unwelcomed" exhibit continues at ACPL

Unwelcomed, the traveling interactive exhibit on housing inequality created by Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana, has found a new home at the Allen County Public Library.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, educating viewers on the systemic barriers that have impacted today's neighborhoods through redlining, racial covenants, steering, neighborhood intimidation, and other forms of discrimination. Several panes discuss historical documents specific to Fort Wayne and Allen County.

The exhibit was first brought to Fort Wayne in September 2024 by Fort Wayne Urban League and the Fort Wayne Metropolitan Commission on Civil Rights before moving to Purdue Fort Wayne in November 2024. Now community members have another chance to view the interactive exhibit at the Downtown Branch of Allen County Library, where it will be hosted on the main floor until March 3, 2025.
