MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR

As many of you know, September is always a season of new beginnings for us at All Saints. One of those cherished new beginnings is our first Outreach Breakfast of the church year, a time when we gather not only to share a meal, but also to strengthen our commitment to caring for those in need.

This year, things look a little different. Because of the necessary construction projects happening around the parish hall this month, we are unable to hold the Outreach Breakfast scheduled for September 21st. I know this is disappointing, especially since the first breakfast after the summer break is usually so eagerly anticipated.

But while we may not be able to gather around tables that morning, our ministry of outreach continues in full force. Our Christian commitment to supporting our neighbors in need is not paused by construction. It remains as strong as ever. I encourage you, even in the absence of a meal together, to continue your generous support. Every gift matters, and every donation helps us live out our baptismal promise to seek and serve Christ in all people.

So although we will miss the fellowship of breakfast this month, let’s show that our parish’s love and generosity do not depend on a date or a dining room, but on the deep well of compassion God has placed within us.

Thank you for standing strong in this ministry and for keeping the spirit of outreach alive, even when circumstances change.

Mark your calendars and save the date!

Please join us following the combined service for a farewell reception to send Father Andrew off to St. Mark’s in the Valley, California, and the next chapter in his life’s journey. We hope to see ALL our parish members come out for a warm goodbye!

September 8th to 26th will be a busy month for construction projects around the parish hall. During this time, the foundation on the south and east sides will be excavated to repair and seal the foundation against further water penetration into the dining room. 

During this time the brick walkway from the asphalt driveway to the upper parish hall door will be blocked off. The upper parish hall door will remain accessible and open. 

In addition, we will be coordinating some work in the dining room for a few days around other planned events. More to come as the plans are finalized.

Sacred Ground Circle

Beginning This September

All Saints is forming a new Sacred Ground dialogue circle this September—a powerful small-group experience from the Episcopal Church that invites honest conversations about race, faith, and American history. Together we will reflect, learn, and discern how God is calling us toward racial healing and justice.

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Donna L. Tildon-Archer will co-facilitate the circle with Michelle Crosby. A retired pediatric and neonatal physician and a proud descendant of Black American slaves, Dr. Tildon-Archer brings a deep knowledge of history, a personal connection to the Civil Rights Movement, and a lifelong passion for equity and justice.

The Union of Black Episcopalians, in collaboration with Sacred Ground, has produced this invitational video that speaks to those discerning whether to participate in a circle, and to the question of whether to form a White Work Circle or an Interracial Circle.

September Meeting of Les Saints du Vin

Joe and Mary Klausner will be hosting the September wine tasting at their home on September 14th at 4:00. They do not have a theme yet but that usually doesn't make much difference in the food people bring.  They have a beautiful beach view so it's a great place to enjoy some wine and friendship.

As usual, bring a dish to share with others, we will also share in the cost of the wines, and we will be voting for our favorite wines with cash donations to a charity. 

Joe and Mary are proposing that the charity donations for this month go to the Bellringer bike ride out of Georgetown University in support of the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Both of them are riding this year. Mary – 25 miles, Joe – 50 miles. Joe’s cousin Marybeth lost her life to cancer 5 years ago. Her father, Joe’s Uncle Butch has been riding for the last 5 years. He’s 82 and riding 50 miles this year.

The crafting/needlework group will be meeting on Zoom, Thursday, September 18th from 6:30 - 8 pm. Please join us to work on your projects or just to talk. Share with your friends who might be interested. No crafting required! All are welcome! All Saints' Parish History Project: Thank You & Input Needed



Thank you to everyone who has shared videos, articles, and stories for our parish history project! Your contributions are helping us tell the complete story of All Saints' 333-year journey.

We've now developed a detailed research outline that will guide the quality and content of our new historical website section. This outline determines what topics we'll cover, how we'll organize the information, and what sources we'll use to ensure accuracy.



We need your review by September 15: Please examine this research outline to ensure we're addressing the right topics and approaching our history appropriately. Are there important aspects of parish life we've missed? Stories that should be highlighted? Your feedback will directly shape the final content.

The Men's Breakfast is always the first Saturday of every month at 9:00 am at Traders Restaurant in Chesapeake Beach. Jim Thrift, our convener, will be in attendance setting up the room before 9:00. The breakfasts are for all Christian men for fellowship and fun. We discuss most everything except religion. Plan to attend and bring a friend as all are welcome, especially newcomers. If you attend you'll have fun, if you don't, we'll talk about you.

WOW Ladies Bible Study Join us as we dive back into the Gospel of John this fall. Choose from two formats: in-person study at Christ Church Calvert on Broomes Island Road, Thursday mornings 10:45-12:00 (beginning 9/11), or via Zoom, Wednesday evenings 7:15-8:00 (beginning 9/10). All are welcome, no previous experience required!

Becoming Beloved Community Workshop

SOMD date: October 18, 2025, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at All Saints’ Parish, Sunderland

Having meaningful dialogues and creating positive experiences is a priority of this workshop while addressing the complex issues around race. There will be a limit of 30 participants, so please register early.
