Spring has arrived, and with it comes a sense of renewal that always inspires me as a leader and as a member of this community. March is also National Women’s History Month, a moment that feels especially meaningful to me as I reflect on the women—past and present—who have shaped the Rainbow Chamber and the Sacramento region. I’m honored to continue that legacy in my role as president and to help strengthen the path for those who will lead after us.

As we continue to celebrate the achievements of our members this month, the Chamber also prepares to honor excellence across our broader business community at the Business & Community Excellence Awards on Thursday, March 12, at the Hilton Arden West. This annual tradition is one of my favorite moments of the year—an opportunity to recognize leadership, innovation, and service across categories such as Business in Excellence, Community Leader of the Year, and Corporate Advocate. And in celebration of our 25th anniversary, we’re proudly introducing a new category: Non‑Profit of the Year, highlighting organizations whose work uplifts and strengthens the LGBTQ+ community throughout Greater Sacramento.

To all of this year’s nominees and award recipients: congratulations! Your contributions make our community better, more compassionate, and more vibrant. It’s a privilege to celebrate your impact.

Before the luncheon and ceremony begin, I invite you to join us for the Business & Community Excellence Expo, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. This free event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with local businesses, meet changemakers, and discover the people and ideas shaping a more inclusive future for Sacramento.

As we step into this new season—and reflect on 25 years of the Chamber’s growth and impact—I am deeply grateful for every member, partner, and volunteer who helps us build a thriving, connected business community. Whether you’re a corporate partner, small business owner, or nonprofit leader, you play a vital role in the story we’re writing together. I’m excited for all that lies ahead.

Warm Wishes,

Sara Hanson

Sacramento Rainbow Chamber Board President

What has the Chamber been up to...

Last month’s networking mixer at Tri Counties Bank brought together members, guests, and community partners for an evening of great conversation, new connections, and plenty of laughs. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces alongside new ones discovering the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber for the first time. Thank you to Tri Counties Bank for hosting us, and to everyone who came out to support our growing community.

We look forward to seeing you all again at this month’s mixer!

The Sacramento Rainbow Chamber recently attended UC Davis Health’s Principles of Community gathering, an event centered on fostering respect, inclusion, and understanding across diverse communities.

The Principles of Community serve as a reminder of the shared responsibility we all have to create spaces where dignity, equity, and belonging are valued.

We were honored to be part of this event and appreciate UC Davis Health for bringing community partners together around these important commitments.
