Northeast Indiana Represents at Welcoming Interactive Conference

From May 20-22, Amani Family Services joined a small but mighty group of Hoosiers at the Welcoming Interactive conference in Detroit, MI. This year, the biannual conference from Welcoming America hosted 900 attendees from across the globe in a powerful space for connection and collaboration. We listened to moving stories of resilience and hope, we shared practical tools for engagement and capacity-building, and we learned impactful examples of how immigrant residents play a vital role in the resurgence of our host city, Detroit. In addition to Amani, Northeast Indiana was represented by our friends at The Language Access Lab and The Wabash County Diversity Coalition. Together, we will bring the knowledge and connections we gained from #interactive2025 and work towards building a welcoming and belonging Northeast Indiana where everyone can thrive.

Welcoming Fort Wayne Spotlight:

Cherry Blossom Festival shares Japanese art, culture with Fort Wayne community

On Sunday, May 18, performers, vendors, and community members gathered at Purdue Fort Wayne for the 18th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

This year, the festival brought the Purdue Fort Wayne campus to life with Japanese arts, crafts, culture, and cuisine. Over 10,000 attendees enjoyed experiencing traditional Japanese culture like Taiko drumming and bonsai art, as well as contemporary culture like anime and classical music.

This annual event is hosted by the Japanese American Association of Indiana (JAAI), which organizes educational programs, cultural gatherings, and other activities supporting Japanese culture and Japanese Americans in Northeast Indiana. Learn more about the JAAI at https://www.jaain.org/.

We partner with immigrant and refugee families and the community to promote safety, encourage personal growth, and foster a spirit of belonging.
