Teacher Spotlight -

Miss Ari

Miss Ari teaches Kindergarten and 1st grade at St. Laurentius, where she helps students cultivate peace, strength, and mindfulness. With a background in modern dance, she brings a deep understanding of body mechanics, movement, and alignment to her teaching, helping each student discover their unique expression of yoga in a supportive and mindful environment.

Miss Ari shares, "To me, MTM is an investment in the minds and wellness of our community, shaping both the present and future adults of tomorrow. It embodies intention and connection, fostering meaningful growth and relationships." We are grateful for Miss Ari's passion and dedication to our program!

Mindfulness

in Action

Our "Mindful Listening" curriculum is helping students tune in to the power of PAWS - Paying Attention With Senses - using the sense of hearing. Students explore how to listen intentionally and build focus by developing directed awareness (focusing on nearby sounds) and expansive awareness (noticing sounds from farther away). Through guided activities, they practice managing distractions by intentionally directing their attention.

By the end of the lesson, students are equipped with tools to differentiate between near and far sounds, and understand the importance of focusing on close, relevant sounds—like their teacher’s voice—in the classroom. Most importantly, they learn that PAWS is a mindfulness tool that can be strengthened with practice, empowering them to create calm and productive learning environments.

From our Classroom Teachers

"The activities helped my students identify and talk through emotions they might feel throughout the day, and the guided meditations and breathing gives them an opportunity to pause throughout our busy days."
