TOMORROW, SATURDAY - APRIL 15TH...
SILENT AUCTION TO SUPPORT AUTISM

"Step Up to the Plate for Autism," presented by HT's Coach Kelce, is happening TOMORROW (April 15th). In addition to a great game of baseball, we have a selection of memorabilia up for silent auction, including items signed by the NFL's Jason Kelce (Philadelphia Eagles) and Travis Kelce (Kansas City Chiefs) -- Coach Kelce's cousins! Come out to the game to see what else is up for bid!

100% of proceeds will go to the Eagles Autism Foundation. Donations can be made at the game or online at bit.ly/HTbaseball2023

Hope to see you Saturday at 1:00 pm to support the Eagles Autism Foundation and Tiger Baseball!
AUCTION ITEMS:
THIS JUST IN....

DID YOU KNOW: Autism is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the United States? The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one in 44 individuals under the age of 21 are on the autism spectrum. The need for programming, research and advocacy is a top priority in the autism community.

When 2nd grader Antonio Mormile approached Dr. Kelce about having an Out of Uniform Day fundraiser to support the Eagles Autism Foundation, she wholeheartedly support the effort, as did Antonio's fellow classmates and peers. As a result, the Lower School raised $1,297.25 for the Eagles Autism Foundation!

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12.

Our students, since the beginning of April, have been learning about the virtue of patience. In addition to learning the Bible verse, above, they have also been engaged in activities such as the favorited egg-and-spoon race and in discussions about the length of time it takes for a seed to grow into a flowering plant.

Throughout our life, our time will be consumed with waiting. We wait for the healing of our bodies or our relationships, we wait for decisions to be made, and we even wait for our dreams to unfold into reality. Waiting, however passive it may appear to be, is simply more than just sitting on the sidelines and expecting things to just turn out in fantastic fashion. Waiting – the practice of being patient – is exercising our ability to yield in making decisions or acting too hastily. It is about being accepting of God’s goodness as we wait in the hope of better things to come. It is also about learning to not complain in the waiting and to remember to be thankful for the blessings we have now, and for the blessings we are expecting.

Patience is difficult for children and adults, alike, but it is a practical and valuable life skill that one can learn to grow in, with practice. When we are patient, we learn to exercise gentleness with ourselves and towards each other. With patience, we learn to set goals and persevere until they are met, and we grow to understand that good things take time. With the practice of patience, we learn to avail ourselves to God’s help and, in so doing, are open to putting our trust in him. God is constant in reminding us that we are to be patient in all things, and by his grace, will receive his promises and grow in his love.

Dear God, thank you for showing me your love and being patient with me. Please help me to more patient in all things. Amen.

 Blessings,
Chaplain Garcia

HT TAKES 1ST AT STATE LATIN FORUM

Holy Trinity’s State Latin Forum team arrived back from the State competition in Orlando on April 1st. For the third consecutive Forum, Holy Trinity won 1st place overall in the senior division. Holy Trinity finished with 511 total points; the 2nd place school had 335 points. Ten HT students won Double First place in their events; this was more Double Firsts than any other school.

For the first time ever, Holy Trinity won the Advanced Certamen tournament. The championship team was Jonathan Nunes, Fefe Montalvo, Ellie Riggs, Matthew Nunes, and Soham Shah. The Intermediate Certamen team was runner-up in their tournament after a competitive final: John Mitnik, Olivia Durgin, and Caleb Adsit.

In addition, Milli Patel was elected President and Soham Shah the Technology Coordinator of the statewide organization, the Florida Junior Classical League.

Holy Trinity Latin has been the reigning State Champions since 2019 and is the only school to ever score more than 500 points in the overall sweepstakes.

HONEYBEES ALL A-BUZZ OVER "A SNAKE MISTAKE"

The Honeybees are finishing up our unit on animals and had a wonderful virtual field trip to Dr. Elliot Jacobson and Nurse Stephanie Pierce’s home veterinarian office. Elliot and Stephanie are Rone, Alexander, and Lena Gicca’s grandparents and Elliot has also been featured in an amazing book called "A Snake Mistake" -- a story about a snake that made a huge mistake and accidentally swallowed a lightbulb thinking it was a chicken egg. Rone’s grandfather saved the snake and removed the lightbulb. The Gicca family gifted the class with this amazing book, and it's a Honeybee favorite.

The students were able to see the real x-ray that shows the mischievous Jake and what he swallowed and even got to see the actual lightbulb. They were fascinated with this incredible story which tied into animals, habitats, careers, and our letters of the week. They also got to see real turtles, a tortoise, as well as snakes. The Honeybees were able to ask and answer questions and loved being able to see the animals up close on our Smart Board. The Hive had a wonderful time and would like to thank the Gicca family for taking the time to meet with them over Zoom.

MOCK TRIAL PRESENTATION: STATE VS. CASEY OVERSTONE

Holy Trinity’s Mock Trial Team competed this spring in the 18th Judicial Circuit Mock Trial Competition, coached by Dr. Tiffany Loris. The students prepared and presented both sides of a criminal trial involving charges of second degree murder. We competed against 8 other schools from Brevard and Seminole Counties, and our defense team was undefeated. Our prosecution team competed against the winning team in a hard fought trial, and our team took second place overall.

Students in Dr. Loris’ Trial Techniques class as well as students from the Mock Trial Team will be presenting the competition trial, State vs. Casey Overstone, in a live presentation on Monday, May 8 in the Scott Center from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Anyone is welcome to come watch our students present opening statements, question (and portray) witnesses, make legal objections, and present closing arguments. Students interested in taking Trial Techniques or joining the Mock Trial Team are encouraged to attend. Parents are welcome, and there may even be impromptu jury deliberations after the trial to render a verdict.
