The Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI), in partnership with The Fort Wayne Metropolitan Human Relations Commission and the Fort Wayne Urban League, is hosting Unwelcomed: A Fair Housing History of Sales & Lending Discrimination, an interactive exhibit, from September 28 to October 27. The exhibit is free and open to the public and educates participants on systemic barriers that have impacted today's neighborhoods, as well as modern-day forms of housing discrimination and lending. Community members can visit the exhibit at the Fort Wayne Urban League located at 2135 Hanna Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46803.
“Fort Wayne Urban League is proud to partner with Metro to have a tough but needed discussion about the importance of closing the disparity gaps that keep too many minority people from being homeowners,” - Aisha Arrington, CEO, Fort Wayne Urban League.
“By understanding the history of housing discrimination, we can better identify its lingering effects, develop more effective policies to promote fair housing, and work towards creating more equitable and integrated communities,” - Nikki Quintana, Executive Director, Fort Wayne Metropolitan Human Relations Commission.
A discussion event for the exhibit will be held at the Fort Wayne Urban League on October 10, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Attendance for the discussion is limited to the first 100 people to register.
