Passport to Apprenticeship Participant, Gabrielle Hedgemon
Gabrielle first learned about Passport in December 2024. Her goals were clear from the start: to find an apprenticeship program that supported both her career aspirations and her personal growth. Thanks to Passport, she’s been equipped with a variety of resources to help set her up for future success.
This support led to a remarkable milestone — Gabrielle has been accepted into a state medical apprenticeship at Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, where she will begin training as a Medical Assistant next month. With additional support from the Passport Program, Gabrielle was also able to move into her very first apartment — another major milestone in her journey toward independence.
“Passport has truly been a great navigator for me,” Gabrielle shared. “Even if you don’t have much support or experience, Passport connects you with people and tools to help you take steps toward your dream career. I’m so thankful for everything they’ve provided!”

PACE 52 Visits RDF/WALSH
Wesley Bradley Park Jobsite
Getting our students out on active jobsites is an essential part of ANEW’s training model. These visits go beyond the classroom to provide real-world exposure, helping participants visualize their future in the construction industry and better understand the daily expectations and conditions of the work. Jobsite visits are an integral component of our curriculum, offering valuable insight into the pace, scale, and collaboration involved in major builds.
Most recently, students had the opportunity to visit the Wesley Bradley Park Phase II project in Puyallup, WA. This impressive development will feature a three-story senior living Brownstone with 67 apartments, underground parking, and a range of resident amenities including a golf simulator, putting green, Bocce ball court, gardens, a BBQ pavilion, and more. The project also includes the new Barndt Family Rehabilitation & Care Center, which will provide both short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services.
Jason White, Field Operations Coordinator with RDF, shared, “Despite the rain, the students all had a positive attitude, asked questions, and were eager to learn! The weather was better than expected, but the class still got firsthand experience being out in the elements…”
Through site visits like these, our students gain a deeper understanding of the industry and leave better prepared for long-term careers in construction.

Supporting Students, Strengthening Community: ANEW at Mt. Tahoma HS
ANEW’s Youth Exploration Program (YEP) and Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Education (PACE) teams recently joined Mt. Tahoma High School for the My Now, My Next event — a vibrant, community-centered gathering focused on supporting students in planning for life after graduation.
The event offered high school seniors tailored support to complete their High School and Beyond Plans, while all students were invited to explore career pathways, apprenticeship opportunities, and post-diploma options. In addition to engaging with meaningful resources, students enjoyed live performances, food trucks, and exciting raffle prizes — all adding to an atmosphere of celebration and opportunity.
By collaborating with local schools and community partners, YEP and PACE are helping build brighter futures — one student, one plan, and one connection at a time.
