What is the zodiac sign for February?

In February the Sun passes through zodiac constellations Capricornus and Aquarius. The signs of the zodiac within the month of February are Aquarius ( January 21 to February 19) and Pisces ( February 20 to March 20 ). February is the shortest month of the year. In a leap year, February 29 falls on the same day of the week as October 31.

Happy birthday from all of us at Nelson's!!

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our

car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the service

department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's

side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I instinctively tried the

door handle and discovered that it was unlocked. 'Hey,' I announced to the

technician, 'it's open!' His reply was, 'I know. I already got that side.'

It is a great time to spring clean!

Inside and out, pressure wash your home, clean roofs off, trim trees, rake up leaves, and throw away things that have been sitting in the yard.

While working at a pizza place, I observed a man ordering a small pizza to go. he appeared to be alone, and the cook asked him if he would like it cut into four pieces or six. He thought about it for some time before responding. '' Just cut it into four pieces. I am not hungry enough to eat six pieces.''

The weather has become cooler and the fishing is great! The river is calm and quiet and the sun is warm and bright. Come launch from our marina for just a $5.00 fee. If we are not there to greet you, just drop it in the office door.

We ask all residents and visitors to respect everyones yard space. Please do not walk or cut through, yards. Please let your children know this is not permitted. Please park in designated parking spots, for each home, and not in the yards of residents.

February was once 23 days.

February could have been the shortest day of the year. The original length of February was 28 days, but it was later shortened to 23 days to make the calendar align better with the lunar cycle. Eventually, Julius Caesar added two extra months to the calendar and restored its original 28-day length. Now, February has 29 days every leap year.

February is the only month in the year that can pass without a full moon.

February has something truly unique and special about it—there isn’t a single full moon all month! This makes it stand out from the other months of the year since every other month is home to at least one full moon in that lunar cycle.

The leap year is to align with the astronomical year.

Did you know that the phenomenon that occurs every four years is in fact a corrective measure? The actual number of days in a regular year is 365.2422 days long, and not 365 days. That is why the extra day is added to February, the shortest month, to balance out this discrepancy, and play catch up.

So, each time we “leap”, we are trying to catch up with the Earth’s orbit. The next one coming up in 2024.

The first heart-shaped box of chocolates was introduced in 1861.

It was created by Richard Cadbury, son of Cadbury founder John Cadbury, who started packaging chocolates in fancy boxes to increase sales. He introduced the first heart-shaped box of chocolates for V-Day in 1861, and today, more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolates are sold each year. That's 58 million pounds of chocolate!

A beautiful way to spend a weekend...

Cross Florida Greenway - Santos Trailhead - Most famous for some of Florida's best mountain biking, Santos is also a major trailhead for hikers and horseback riders. Stay a few days in the campground and hike, bike or ride horses for days on end.

Ocklawaha Prairie Restoration Area - Bring your binoculars and scopes to Ocklawaha Prairie - the wildlife viewing is great here. An observation tower is less than a mile from the parking area, and offers a good vantage point for birders. Several trails are available for hiking, biking, or horseback riding trips up to ten miles - perfect for a day trip.

A Florida Trail in the Ocala National Forest means an immersion in miles of miles of the Big Scrub, the primary habitat protected by the forest.
