Quote of the week...

Bill Belichick said, "Talent sets your floor, but character sets your ceiling."

Your character is what you do.

It's not about perfection, it's about your actions.

• It means integrity.

• It means responsibility.

• It means self-discipline.

Good character is choosing what is right over what is easy.

It means accepting that you aren't defined by your victories or defeats, but by your attitude and character in the face of adversity.

You demonstrate it through your actions, decisions, and how you treat people.

6 Choices to Be a Person of Character:

Choose to Live Your Values - Align your actions and behaviors with your core beliefs and principles. Living your values means making choices that reflect what truly matters to you. It brings authenticity, integrity, and a sense of purpose to your your life. This consistency between belief and behavior builds trust and respect from others. It provides direction for your decisions.

Choose Integrity over Convenience - Choose to do what's right, even when it's not easy or convenient. Integrity involves being honest and having strong moral principles. It means standing by your values even in challenging situations, which earns you respect and self-respect. Choose integrity often leads to long-term success over short-term gains.

Choose to Be Your Authentic-Self - Embrace and express your true self, with all its strengths and vulnerabilities. Being authentic means closing the gap between who you truly are and who you present to the world. It fosters genuine connections with others and allows you to live freely and confidently, staying true to who you are.

Choose Humility and Growth - Recognize that there's always room for improvement. Choosing humility and growth means being open to learning and feedback, acknowledging your limitations, and constantly seeking to better yourself. This mindset leads to personal development and a deeper understanding of both yourself and the world around you.

Choose to Care for People - Show empathy and compassion towards others. Caring for people involves actively listening, understanding their feelings, and helping when needed. This choice not only impacts the lives of others positively but also enriches your own life, creating community and connection.

Choose to Live Your Purpose - Identify what drives you and gives your life meaning. By choosing to live your purpose, you focus your efforts on goals that are important to you. This gives you direction, clarity, and a deep sense of fulfillment as you contribute to something greater than yourself. It means making a positive impact and finding satisfaction in your journey.

Student Leadership

SCHSL Captains Council and Student Leadership Summit - The South Carolina High School League hosts Virtual Sports Captains Workshop's and Leadership Summit's throughout the year. I encourage all of our athletes to watch the following videos:

NFHS Courses for students - The NFHS has released three courses and two in particular are for our student leaders. Dan Schuster, NFHS director of educational services stated, “We believe these courses will bring value to those who take them and will contribute to improving the interscholastic experience for young people.” The courses are called “Becoming a Leader” and “Leading Others”. Each course uses real student testimonies and focuses on building stronger student leaders.

2024-25 Athletics

It's that time of year where you need to start thinking about getting your sports physicals for next school year. Sports physicals for the 24-25 year must be dated after April 1, 2024. Athletic physicals, as well as other necessary document, must be uploaded into planetHS before students are allowed to participate in athletics.

It is never to early to start preparing to play at the next level. In addition to having the athletic ability, you also need to be prepared academically. Click here to learn what steps you should be taking.

Looking for a way to show off your school pride? We have stickers available for purchase on the school store for $5.00.

Athletic fees can be paid in the school store. These must be paid before your student competes in an athletic competition.
