Gospel Reading: (Matthew 18:21-35)
Peter approached Jesus and asked him, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. That is why the kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants….a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount…Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan. When the servant left, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount…he had the fellow servant put in prison until he paid back the debt. His master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you? Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers…So will my heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives your brother or sister from your heart.
Vincentian Reflection:
Forgiving another-not focusing on our hurt or the other’s transgression but on the lovableness of the other-is so difficult! The challenge of this gospel is to forget how others have behaved toward us and look to God’s way of loving and forgiving us. Our focus must be on God. Without God’s example we probably couldn’t forgive very well. The challenge is to forget about ourselves so we can reach out to the other.
(Living Liturgy, p. 236)
Jesus told us that we must forgive others “from our heart.” Who needs your forgiveness?

Introduction for New Member
|
|
The Introduction for New Member meeting will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the present need to isolate and social distance, it is not possible to hold our regular Ozanam Orientation sessions.
The National Office has provided us with a presentation that can be used for new members until we can all meet together again in Ozanam Orientation. This is an alternative (not a replacement for) Ozanam Orientation. New Members are still expected to attend Ozanam Orientation whenever in-person meetings resume. Until then, this will satisfy the need for new Conference members to attend Ozanam Orientation before going on home visits.
Please use the link below to register. After you register, you will receive a confirmation email with the link to the meeting.

A Letter From Your Servant Leaders
|
|
We share this letter from our National Episcopal Advisor, Bishop Donald Hying and the Bishops of Wisconsin on this week of the Feast of Blessed Frédéric Ozanam.
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Recent events have revealed just how fragile our lives are and how essential it is to make sacrifices for the sake of others. As another national election season will soon be upon us, we presume that elections too will look different. One constant, however, is our Catholic teaching.
As in the past, we urge you to review “Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility” from the Catholic Bishops of the United States (www.faithfulcitizenship.org) … and Catholic social teaching … Both serve to guide Catholics as they exercise their rights and duties as citizens.
