A Thank You to the LWML from Kathy Dawsey | Dear Joyce, Thank you and all the ladies of the LWML for my beautiful prayer shawl. Although I have made several of these over the years to be given to others who needed them, I never expected to actually receive one. Both the shawl and the prayers that went with it shall comfort me for many years to come. May our Father in Heaven Bless each one of you mightily! Your Sister in Christ, Kathy | |

Maita Family Newsletter is Here | Greetings in Christ, Rut Esther was a little Lutheran school student who lived next to the church when I met her in 2010. Now, thanks to God's grace and faithful pastors, read what she is up to now!
This August newsletter includes one of my best mission memories so far about Rut Esther. In Him,
Pastor Gustavo, Ruth, Mikhaela, Isaiah and Ivanna Maita

“Adopt” a Duke Lutheran and Share the Love! | Adopt a Duke Lutheran “parent” Marilyn Bell once wrote about the Adopt a Duke Lutheran ministry, “Matching students while they’re away from their homes and families with church members is an extension of St. Paul’s mission to share God in Christ with the world and one another through service, support, and learning.”
Indeed. Whenever Marilyn and her husband Larry shared a meal with their “adopted” Duke Lutheran Jovita Byemerwa, or sent her a card, or prayed for her, they also shared God’s love in Christ with her and she with them. Click here to read the entire announcement and consider adopting a student!
Sign Up to Serve a Sunday Night Dinner for Duke Lutherans | We invite you to help nourish the Duke Lutherans’ spirits and bodies by serving a dinner one night this fall semester. If you’ve never joined us before, we’d love to have you! You provide the food; we provide everything else (beverages, plates, utensils) and the hungry appetites! We usually have between 15-20 students. Please also provide one main vegetarian dish. The students like fresh fruit and veggies too and LOVE dessert! Arrive at the Duke Lutherans Center by 5:15 so that we can help unpack the food in time for you to join us for worship. Evening Prayer begins at 5:30, followed by dinner at 6:30. (Tip: crockpot meals are a great choice because they'll help to keep the food warm while we worship.) Sign-up here and thank you for sharing in this ministry of grace for our beloved students!
