A Welcome from Our Executive Director

Dear Friends,

I'm so excited to share our very first Kindred Kids newsletter with you! As Co-Founder and Executive Director, it means the world to me that you're here and interested in the work we do.

Since we opened our doors in 2018, Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center has been serving families across Colorado's 11th Judicial District – that's Fremont, Custer, Chaffee, and Park Counties. In these years, we've been honored to walk alongside over 800 victims and their families during some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Here's what makes Kindred Kids different: we believe every victim deserves compassionate, coordinated care, no matter their age or what they've experienced. And every single service we provide is completely free of charge.

What We Offer:

  • 24/7 Crisis Response – We're here whenever families need us most
  • Forensic Interviews – Conducted in a child-friendly, safe environment
  • On-Site Medical Exams – Comprehensive care for sexual assault victims of all ages in a private, comfortable setting
  • Victim Advocacy – We guide and support families throughout the entire process
  • Peer Support K-9 Program – Meet Rocket, our certified therapy dog who provides comfort during difficult times
  • Multidisciplinary Team Coordination – We bring together law enforcement, prosecutors, medical professionals, and mental health providers to ensure the best possible care

None of this would be possible without our dedicated partners, generous supporters, and a community that stands with victims. Thank you for being part of this mission.

With deep gratitude,

Lori Jenkins

Executive Director/Forensic Interviewer

Service Spotlight

What is a Child Advocacy Center?

A Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a safe, child-friendly place where victims of abuse receive comprehensive support under one roof. Instead of telling their story multiple times to different agencies, children are interviewed once by a specially trained forensic interviewer in a comfortable environment. Our center brings together law enforcement, medical professionals, prosecutors, and advocates to provide coordinated, trauma-informed care.

Kindred Kids is accredited by the National Children's Alliance (NCA), meaning we meet the highest national standards for serving child abuse victims. Our mission is simple: provide compassionate care that helps children heal and families move forward.

Support our Mission, One Month at a Time

Our 2026 calendar features 12 amazing service dogs that support our community, families, and first responders – including our very own Rocket!

Each calendar is $25, and 100% of proceeds directly support our forensic interviews, crisis response, and victim advocacy services. Your purchase helps us serve the children and families who need us most.

Every donation helps us answer the call when a child needs us most. Your generosity ensures we can continue providing free crisis response, forensic interviews, medical exams, and advocacy services 24/7 to families across our four-county region. No gift is too small – every dollar directly supports children and families on their healing journey.
